  1. Hi wiggywoo What a great username! I'm sure you'll see your wishlist grow by yards! to the forum
  2. Yeah I've heard that too, but I've never had any problems with them so far. They always arrive in 3-4 days.
  3. A very generous offer Inver! Chicklit's not my main genre so I'll leave it to someone who loves it.
  4. Me too Unfortunatly the Waterstones in my town is not the biggest so it doesn't carry a lot of stock. There is a rather nice young chap behind the counter who also takes the time to chat about books and even has the same taste in genre as me! Doesn't make me swoon though The other main book store over here is a chain called Easons but they are a huge stationary shop too so their stocks aren't great either, failing that I buy from Amazon or Waterstones online (to get my points!)
  5. Congratulations on the new arrival to the family!! A nice summer baby too, how lovely! Can't wait to hear the name. I hope both Mum and baby are keeping well.

  6. You're making me blush!

  8. I've started a Dexter group folks so we can talk about the TV series and actors too without clogging up this great thread and going off topic too much. Everyone welcome!
  9. I was gonna start the Dexter group. What about a name though? I can't think of one apart from Delicious Dexter and the Darling Delectables? I think Dexterettes may be too close to Deaverettes? :dunno: Any ideas? How are you btw? :D:lol: Hope you're doing ok

  10. The 'Middle Wife' by an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second grade classroom a few years back. When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome. Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater. She holds up a snapshot of an infant. 'This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday.' 'First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord.' She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and wishing I had my camcorder with me. The kids are watching her in amazement. 'Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, 'Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh!' Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. 'She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!' (Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning.) 'My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this.' (Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.) 'And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!' (This kid has her legs spread with her little hands miming water flowing away. It was too much!) 'Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe. They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff that they all said it was from Mom's play-center, (placenta) so there must be a lot of toys inside there. When he got out, the middle wife spanked him for crawling up in there.' Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat. I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, when it's show-and-tell day, I bring my camcorder, just in case another 'Middle Wife' comes along.
  11. Those last two were great Kell!

  13. Ok I'll start the Dexter group. What about a name though? I can't think of one apart from Delicious Dexter and the Darling Delectables? I think Dexterettes may be too close to Deaverettes? :dunno: Any ideas?

  15. Nice thought Lexie, unfortunately I can't resist spoilers ..
  16. Yes do, I'll look forward to it. Now that we all have the latest Dexter books, we shall have to arrange when it suits everyone to read them. Might be nice if we all read them together, no biggie though if we don't. I'm up for Dex next, if it suits everyone but I can wait :D

  19. Yoohoo! :006: Hello! :D I can't wait to hear what you think of the Chelsea Cain book, I haven't read any of hers but I have read the blurbs a few times and they're on my wishlist. I haven't actually got them yet :( They do look great though! Does this mean we may be on the cusp of finding another new author?? :yahoo:

  20. I did. I added a lovely honey and mustard dressing with a bean mix to keep me full ... ... rather have had this though!
  21. If its by an author I know I just read the blurb on the back of the book. If not I read the blurb and maybe a few paragraphs on the inside. I also check if its a series, I hate reading books out of order. Then I pick a bookmark to match the cover/style of book and I'm good to go!
  22. Chicken Salad
