  1. No no no Ghost, you can't let that pic put you off! You would be missing out on some excellent reads! Granted it is an awful pic and it's so obviously staged too. Whenever I read one of his books I imagine him somewhat like that but a lot older now (cause lets face it, that pic looks ancient ), perhaps with slighly greyer hair, cut really short, wearing finer rimmed glasses, and not trying to do an over the shoulder pose. Does that help? I do know what you mean though, he looks nothing like I expected him to but how an author looks would never put me off a book. I don't have to picture the author in the book so how could it? Well ... except Kay Scarpetta novels, for some reason I picture her just like the author Patricia Cornwell
  2. Yip that's just about what I did, apart from the rebuilding bit. I was doing a maintainence on my lappy today, you know the usual, virus scans, defragment etc and I went and installed all the updates one of which was IE8. My pc does actually seem a lot quicker and my browser is a lot faster too, not sure if thats because of IE8 or the good clear out it had today Anyway I have it now and so far so good. Thanks everyone for all the answers!
  3. Oh yes, I've only seen the first series and the odd episode of the subsequent series' and from what I've seen you are quite correct .. but technically, the rest of the series' would have basis in the first series which in turn is based on the first book no? Therefore, the whole Dexter series would have its roots as being based on the first book and so we can safely say that all the series' are based on the book!
  4. Yes Nicola, that's the first. It goes: Darkly Dreaming Dexter Dearly Devoted Dexter Dexter in the Dark Dexter by Design Although the series is based on the books, the books are much much better, be prepared for a few changes! Enjoy!
  5. My computer is asking me to update to the latest version of windows explorer, I think its 8. Does anyone have it yet or do you know of any problems with it? Thanks
  6. Great review Bethany, it brings back so many memories of lying on my bed on a Saturday afternoon and reading this as a 10 yr old, thank you!
  7. I don't mind waiting either, Darling Dex will be worth it I'm sure! (Just hurry up!!! )

Hi Carm! Happy Birthday!! Hope you're having a lovely day :smile2::balloons:

  13. I had a nice relaxing day today and finished off The Coffin Dancer ~by~ Jeffrey Deaver Synopsis Courtesy of Waterstones The Coffin Dancer, America's most wanted hit man, is back. He's been hired by an airline owner who wants three witnesses taken care of before his trial, and has got the first, a pilot, by blowing up his entire plane. Enter quadriplegic ex-cop Lincoln Rhyme, who can find forensic evidence to hang a man in the smallest debris, and his assistant Amelia Sachs. Their job is to keep the remaining two witnesses safe, and to find the Coffin Dancer before he finds them. Because he will find them, and anyone else who tries to get in his way. The second in this series sees expert criminalist Lincoln Rhyme and his beautiful partner Amelia Sachs in another great read. They have to find The Coffin Dancer, an unstopable assasin who is the best of his kind, he thinks of everything and isn't afraid of anything. He's been hired to take out key witnesses in a major trial and he's never missed a target yet ... When I read the blurb on the back of the book I wasn't sure if I was going to like this one and it took me a few chapters to get into it I have to admit, which isn't the norm for me with Deaver reads. Once I did though it was back on the rollercoaster ride that Deaver always delivers. The plot was brilliant, Jeffrey Deaver is a mastermind when it comes to weaving a tale of deception and just when you think you know what to expect he throws a twist at you that knocks you for six, he even managed to throw in a little love triangle with a bit of jealousy to boot! I will definately be getting the next installment of this fantastic series. Thoroughly recommended. 10/10

  17. I've heard Harlan Coben was good and have a couple of his on my shelves, including Deal Breaker. They've always been pushed down the list a bit though but your review Mac is fantastic and I will probably push Mr Coben's books up to the top of the pile somewhat. Thanks for this Mac. Excellent review!
  18. Aww ... clever dog! Hope the lab was ok

  24. I was making a pavlova once for dessert when friends were coming around. I had it looking beautiful complete with fresh cream, strawberries and drizzled chocolate. Unfortunately I added a couple of tablespoons of salt to the fresh cream on top instead of castor sugar as I whipped it. Now I know you're supposed to taste test everything before you serve it but this is one of my renowned recipes which never goes wrong, (until that day ) so I didn't bother. I nearly died when everyone started spitting out their dessert back on to their plates!! I still haven't lived it down .. I was a trained chef!
