  1. I love Isaac Bashevis Singer and have his book of collected short stories. He's a Jewish writer and a lot of his stories are small lessons to be learned. I also really enjoyed Chuck Palaniuk's Non-Fiction which is a book of essays he wrote while researching certain books. You can really see where he got inspiration for even the smallest details in his books.

  8. I agree with Kimmy. I think if she does publish it she'll do it once the hype has faded some. I'm not sure if I'd read them all mind you but definitely the first one. In Twilight there are a lot of moments where Edward laughs out loud or smiles for reasons unknown to Bella so it's good to find out what those reasons were. Maybe New Moon would be interesting too as but Eclipse and Breaking Dawn might not be as good. You never know though

  10. I think the first four are fantastic! 5, 6, 7 were a bit for me but still addictive. 8 was better and 9 was great again And yes Frankie the scene at in a good way of course

    Oooooh new job! Are you looking forward to it or feeling apprehensive at all? A friend of mine has just started working for Banardos with vulnerable children and she says that working with teeneagers is the most rewarding thing she's ever done.

     

    Ooooh I think Oldfields is on Osborne Road in a really nice part of Newcastle called Jesmond. I was on Osborne Road last night in another restaurant with friends (I feel like I've gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson today mind you) about 50 metres from Oldfields (if it's the restaurant I'm thinking of) :D Small world isn't it!

  15. Same here If I've enjoyed books by a certain author I tend to gravitate towards their section of a bookshop, but these days I pick up recommendations here and shop for specific books rather than spend an hour browsing.
  16. I love Lost in Translation. You've reminded me to see what other movies Sofia Coppola has made as I also love Maire Antoinette. She has quite a unique style Edit: I've just checked faithful wikipedia and she directed The Virgin Suicides too. Another great movie

  18. Bill who?!?! Oh My!!!! Oh my!!! I'm quite speechless! Imagine waking up next to him every morning!? How could you leave the house for work?!? Yup....episode 9 is definitely my favourite so far. I felt so bad for Eric when It was really touching and maybe Sookie will start to see the softer side to him.

  22. It's really well written isn't it!? Normally with sex in books I'm like "Eeeek! Turn the page! Turn the page!" Some of it is awful! Especially the stuff written by men.....makes them even more alien to me!
  23. I also loved My Booky Wook by Russell Brand. It was hilarious! My favourite autobiography however has to be Let It Blurt about the life of Lester Bangs a New York based Gonzo journalist who was around in the 60's and 70's. He reviewed and interviewed the likes of Blondie, Lou Reed who he had a love/hate relationship with and Patty Smith who he was great friends with. He also performed in a band himself at CBGB's but never quite made it. He told it like it was. If a record was terrible he'd say so and if he changed his mind a few months or years down the line he'd admit to that too. Because of this he was famous in certain circles and it seemed that he had a lot of friends who were only interested in that fame. Deep down he was quite a lonely person and always had been since childhood. Just before he died he was writing a book (called Let It Blurt) but he overdosed on cough mixture before finishing it. He could have been as influential as Hunter S Thompson and Jack Kerouac who were similar to him in that they wrote about what middle-class America feared.....sex, drugs & rock'n'roll (with a few Hells Angels thrown into the mix somewhere!) It's such a sad story because he faced a lot of rejection in his life but it's one of my favourite books
