I'm going to have a super house-hunt at the weekend and fingers crossed it turns up.....positive thing and all that Yeah I was starting to get into it but I don't think it was up to his usual standard. I think it'll be one of those books that grabs you after a good few chapters, like the Empty Chair which I wasn't to keen on at first but it was a real grower. Let me know if you ever coninue with it

Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris
Nicola replied to Kell's topic in Horror / Fantasy / SF
I've just bought a copy of Dead Until Dark....it's been tempting me for ages and now I'm watching the TV series I don't think I can wait until the end to find out who the killer is!! -
Read them and really enjoyed them. I couldn't put them down! Looking forward to the New Moon movie later this year and I think I'm Team Jacob!

Thanks Kell....I'll keep my eyes peeled around Christmas time then. Something to look forward to as long as they don't ruin it eh!

I think I've left Jeffrey on the bus! Well.....The Stone Monkey anyway. It was so so so good too and came all the way from a tiny second hand book shop in Whitby. How can a person lose a book they're actually in the middle of?

I watched Friday's episode last night & really enjoyed it. I'm seriously tempted to buy the books as I don't think I have the patience to wait and see what happens

I also like to have my books around me and rarely have a clear out. I like to see what I've read and usually end up re-reading a lot of them. Even if I've borrowed a book from a friend I'll end up buying myself a copy a few months down the line. I have a few shelves in the lounge which house my favourite books that I'd just never dream of parting with (Chuck Palahniuk collection, a few Irvine Welsh books, Harry Potter Books, Twilight books, a few Dickens and other classics and 3 or 4 Neil Gaiman books). In the spare room I have a book case which contains all of the other books I own and I've had to start to double up on a few shelves. I've no idea what I'll do when I run out of space.....eeeek! I'd love to have my own library A friend of mine came over the other week and saw my Twilight books. She hadn't read them and asked if she could borrow my copy of Twilight. I couldn't say no as I'd seem crazy so now my lounge collection has a gap! It looks like a missing tooth!

I totally agree bookbee. I love the book and the movie and have seen it twice () too. I try not to compare the two as they're never going to fit everything into the movie as the book is just too big, but I would have liked to have seen the Riddle story as I found it really interesting in the books. I know a few people were unhappy with how was handled but I though the scene was much more touching.

I've missed him! Haa! But it's nice to take a break and know that you have something really good to get into a few books down the line He never lets you down does he.....the books really are rollercoasters!

Everyone seems to think that it gets better with each episode so I'm really looking forward to Fridays episode. I also quite like Bill although Sam is also quite nice too.....think I'd have to toss a coin

It must really nag at them especially as they become more experienced. I've just started The Stone Monkey in my quest to finish the Lincoln Rhyme series

Such a good thread!! For me it would have to be Pride and Prejudice. I know it's the most obvious love story but that's probably because it's the greatest. I've read it a million times and have the BBC adaptation on DVD which I watch every other month. I just love it!

Hey Kevin! Welcome to the BCF! Your English is really good.....much better than my German. The few times I've visted Berlin I try my hand at ordering food and drinks in german but lose confidence mid-sentence! So I start in German and finish in English which just baffles everyone around me and leaves me red-faced Hope you enjoy the forum!

Ah this makes me cringe! Eeeek! -
I've just finished The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory and like it's predecessor I found it very enjoyable. It's an interesting way to learn our history I recently went to London and visited the Tower knowing exactly what had happened there and why. The book begins as Henry VIII is looking for his forth wife after the death of his 3rd wife Jane Seymour. He settles on marrying Anne of Cleves but after their 1st meeting resulted in her accidentally insulting him and denting his pride, he disliked her immensely and sought a way to rid himself of her. At the same time, Katherine Howard who was Anne of Cleves lady in waiting and a massive flirt (she loves men!), sees an opportunity to gain a few fancy dresses by praising the king and making him believe that he is still young, handsome and desirable to her. She takes the King's eye and quickly becomes his favourite 'rose without a thorn'. She is 15 and he is 49. There are quite a few moments throughout the book when I found myself laughing out-loud at Katherine. She is shameless and hilarious! As in The Other Boleyn Girl, she is pushed into this life (and death) by the desires of her Uncle who will gain estates and titles due to her success. However, in The Other Boleyn Girl Anne Boleyn is portrayed as being a strong-willed and clever woman who doesn't listen to the bidding of her uncle. In this book we learn that Katherine Howard truely is a pawn in a man's game. Due to immaturity and poor education, she is manipulated by her uncle and the King gropes her in public which she finds very uncomfortable but puts up with to keep him happy. Even up until the hours before her execution she didn't understand the situation she was in and was sure that the King would forgive her. I loved this book! 9/10

Jeffrey Deaver - Former Folk Singer!!!!! I haven't read any of those books either but it's good to know what he likes. It's also very true that you think that these crimes could happen to anyone, including yourself. After reading The Blue Nowhere I was very paranoid about using facebook etc. Not good

I watched the first episode last night and I think I enjoyed it. I've not read the books but was told by a friend that they're not too different from Twilight, therefore was NOT expecting the whole naked man/naked lady/naked vampire aspect which isn't very Cullen is it! I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the season through my fingers! haa!

This is such a good thread! I've been at weightwatchers for about 6 weeks now and I'm getting bored of the same old thing for tea every night. I buy fish in a parsley sauce (which is frozen and takes 5 mins or so in the microwave) and add it to pasta and vegetables such as brocolli (about 4 - 5 points on the weightwatchers diet.) As I'm not a great cook myself I buy a lot of frozen veg and add it to most meals. Totally lost my mojo at the mo but hope to get it back asap!
