  1. Haaa! You have more than one!?! It must be good if you bought it twice eh! It was gone when I went back but it's on my 'To Buy' list I'm reading a non-Deaver book at the mo and I'm missing him (maybe because this book is weird!) Once I've finished I'm getting back on the Deaver wagon and staying put for a while!
  2. Haaa! I like that one Pablo!
  3. Me too! I was so shocked! I'm sure Kate will do well and I doubt he'll let her slip through his fingers! Ah I think I was maybe the only Phillip fan in the country! I really loved his stupidity and northern charm! The way he said Sralan's choice to fire him was a 'Joke' made me laugh.....and Pants Man. Need I say anymore!?! haa!
  4. I really wanted Kate to win but I agree, they were both really worthy of the job. Can't wait until next year's show! And fancy Margaret leaving the show......will it ever be the same without those eyebrows??!!
  5. Let the Right One In has really torn me these past few days. On one hand you have the main character Oskar who is really interesting and his blossoming friendship with Eli is really endearing, however there are themes of child abuse during the first half of the book which make it really uncomfortable to read. But you can't not continue because Oskar's story is really gripping. It's ok at the minute and a really interesting read....I think I'd still recommend it but warn people prior to reading that it has disturbing chapters.

Oh I lost 2 and a half lb on Thursday :doowapstart: ......I felt like kissing the weigh-in lady! haa! I'm still trying really hard so lets hope next week is just as good! How's your healthy lifestyle regime going? Also, how was your time at you BF's folks house? Hope you had a good few days!

  6. Oh My Goodness!!!!! Michelle Heaton was raised just a few miles from me and she's notorious for giving geordie girls a bad name. She's all lipgloss, fake hair and fake nails isn't she!

I've just been to the opening of our city library this morning. The building is modern and spacious. I'm really impressed :D but even they don't have The Stone Monkey and I've not got around to buying it online yet

I'm sure Finland is fabulous! Plus not all buildings in the UK are to that standard. There was a pretty awful era in the 60's where we tried to re-build post-war Britain in the cheap. There's still quite a few of those buildings standing, they're usually quite hideous!

  7. I was wondering that too peacefield. I don't remember it at all but just put it down to bad memory Did anyone see the trailer for NM on the MTV movie awards? All those Jacob haters are probably going to find him slightly more tolerable
  8. Me too! I didn't actually think about it until now, but of course that's all I'm going to be able to think of from now on!
  9. Cool.....well I might stick it on Sky plus. I never really watch tv so I haven't used up half the amount of space on there compared to my BF
  10. I've no idea what to have tonight although I'm at weightwatchers later for my first weigh-in. No doubt after the class I'll be inspired to eat carrot sticks and dust!
  11. I quite enjoyed the film too but agree with Frankie, the book's much better. The soundtrack is great too!
  12. You're all bonkers! Haa! I saw The Blue Nowhere in a charity shop today so will pop back and buy it if it's highly recommended. Right....I'm leaving before I'm infected by the crazy
  13. Ah what a shame! I loved last nights episode! Ah....Lorraine aka Mystic Meg! and James with blinking Willy Wonka! Ahhhhh it was so funny and uncomfortable at the same time
  14. Ooooh I'll have to catch the next episode then I suppose it was a silly question to ask if I should be watching it in this thread Silly me!!
  15. I'm a 13 year old boy in 1980's Swedish suburbia. I'm just about to go and stab the boy who has been bullying me at school.......eeeeeek! I've also just robbed the local sweet shop and have an incontinence problem (thought this book was about vampires!!) Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist
  16. Ah I'm glad to hear you had fun! It's definitely good to get distracted from the snacks isn't it! The weightwatchers diet is starting to lose its novelty for me. I get weighed tomorrow though so hopefully it'll inspire me if I lose weight. Got a feeling I wont.....the whole fortnightly cycle thing happened to me the last time I went but I've been really good and stuck to it so fingers crossed! How's it all going for you?

Haaaa.....the whole notorious nightlife in Newcastle is good and bad. It's good because it attracts lots of stag and hen nights so there's always people in fancy dress. They put so much effort into they're costumes sometimes and they're always good to see. :D

  17. The bad aspect is that Newcastle girls have a bit of a reputation for getting drunk, wearing very little and sleeping with any man with a pulse! So we have to work a little bit harder at being taken seriously in my opinion (and deal with men who think it's ok to grab your bum in a club......:censored:)

I think we take the gorgeous architecture for granted sometimes because you cant really escape it. Even my favourite book shop is in one of the most beautiful building in Newcastle (I'll try to attach a link....I'm not good at this stuff!!) www.flickr.com/photos/davewebster14/2660831895/

Glad to hear your mojo's back! I've just started to read Let the Right One In and it's really good. Thanks for letting me know it existed in book form!:D:D

  18. "Do the Russians even know how to play table tennis?" "Nope, so we've got this thing all sewn up and maybe we'll regain control of the Baltic territories." Lacke wiped his mouth on his napkin with exaggerated care and said, "It's all pretty strange." Let the Right One In - John Ajvide Lindqvist
  19. I read this book a few months ago so have had a bit of time to get my head around it. I really enjoyed it and it's one of my favourites. I've since gone on to read Dry which was also really enjoyable although not as good as Running With Scissors. I really love Augusten and his aspiration to be high-shine perfection which gradually leaves him as he progresses through the book, living in squalor! There were so many parts of the book which made me laugh out loud. One was when that man spat on him mid-song. Obviously this is not funny but the way he describes the beauty of the angelic voices followed by the spitting incident etc etc was so funny. He tends to describe awful situations in such a way that they're funny. The whole 'poo pointing to god' thing was disgusting (and funny too!) I also loved they bit where they decide to pull the ceiling down which is just accepted as the norm and the initial descriptions of the state of the house ....bizarre! I found the relationship he had with Neil Bookman and how the relationship was accepted by Dr Finch, his mother and the rest of the family, quite disturbing. I also found Dr Finch in general disturbing. The relationship between him and Augusten's Mother made me uncomfortable at times. I'm hoping to re-read it over the summer So overall, a good book in my opinion!
  20. Well today, I was having a belated spring clean and I was looking for a tv programme to put on in the background and noticed the Gilmore Girls but wasn't sure what it was. So I guess what I mean to say is......what is this tv programme and should I be watching it?
  21. I've just baked a cornbeef, potato and onion pie for my BF impressing even myself! Unfortunately I don't eat red meat or poultry so can't have any! Pasta with a sunblushed tomato sauce thingymebob for me
  22. Me too! Although they do have an classic book collection thats really pretty. Not sure if it's Austen or Dickens (????) but the covers are really nice. I wouldn't mind duplicating those books
  23. That must have really hurt!!
  24. Frankie!!!! I've finished 2nd after two days of constant work!!! Woooooop!!:D

How was the housewarming? The weather's been glorious over here too! Sooooooo lovely!

I thought Agent-Tattletale was quite apt for a book forum I still need to finish off adding books to it but the forums scare me slightly. There's so many people chatting about so many different topics.....intimidating stuff!

Ooooh I'm not sure about London pubs but Newcastle is notorious for its nightlife. We have about 5 or 6 different districts to go to and they're all really close so pub crawls are are the only way to do a night out. Local pubs stay open until about 11 - 11:30pm and then people go onto clubs. However, in the city centre there are a few pubs that stay open until 2 so they're a nice alternative to a nightclub. I'm more of pub person so that suits me perfectly!! :D

  25. Yeah....if you ever get to London you have to give me a shout and I'll venture down! It would be so cool & two bees with one whack is much better than the English saying of two birds with one stone! I really should visit it but I think I get intimidated by big cities (Newcastle is really compact). The book shop sounds fantastic....you may never get me out again!

Oh no..... the Bronte Muesuem is a quaint little parsonage in Hawick, Yorkshire which is supposed to be the home of the Bronte family. Pemberley is my dream home!! haa!! It's called Lyme Park and I think it's in Cheshire....it's divine isn't it!

I'm hoping to start Let the Right One In over the next few days. I'm going to have a massive clean in my flat! Eeeek!!

How's the teen fiction book coming along? Hopefully your mojo is back with a vengence!
