  1. I've just joined the group (the name really tickled me!!) Also just finished the Coffin Dancer....really enjoyed it! Was NOT expecting the ending though. Jeffrey Deaver is a genius!
  2. Just finished The Coffin Dancer by Jeffrey Deaver and WOW!!! It was such a page-turner from outset. The story is about Licoln Rhyme, a criminalist and his side kick Amelia Sachs. They're on the hunt for the latest serial killer who is nicknamed the Coffin Dancer as he is deadly. It's an amazing story with lots of twists and turns and it really does keep you guessing up until the very end. I'd give it a 9/10
  3. He really was quite annoying wasn't he!
  4. It really was amazing wasn't it! I would never have guessed the whodunnit in a million years! He's such a good writer and the research he carried out prior to writing the book must have been enormous! :thud:

The name of the social group really tickled me! What a good name! Sounds like an old Motown group! haa! (I can just visualise Jeffrey on lead vocals surrounded by us lot in sparkly dresses and beehive hair-dos! haaa!

Think I'll read a few pages of Lestat before bed and buy the first Dexter book at the weekend. Is it called Darkly Dexter or something like that? (Oh....but Jeffrey! I think I'll get withdrawal symptoms. He's had about 20 books published so that should keep us going for quite some time! haa!) :D:D:D

  5. I'm probably going against the grain here but I really liked Phillip! It was that cocky, northern arrogance.....I thought he was quite funny! I do think he was a bit harsh on Lorraine at times but I think she played on it to deliberately wind him up. I really hope Lorraine goes next week! She has no substance and the way she spoke to Yasmine (sp?) was pretty poor.
  6. OMG!!!!!!! Just finished the Coffin Dancer!!! Wow!!!! Did not expect that ending! I was just thinking that I thought the Jodie character was quite funny when shock! Horror! Gasp! :icon_eek: he pulled out that knife! I knew that Tony Panelli guy would pop up again too.....although he wasn't the Dancer as I'd originally thought. I really enjoyed it! Can't wait for the next one....which one is it again? I have the order written down somewhere

So Lestat next.......let's hope it's quite as gripping eh!

  7. About 100 pages of the coffin dancer left.....eeeeek! It's so good! I'm now thinking But I still think that Why else whould he be mentioned?? Hmmmmmmmmm............. Right I'm dashing to get this finished! :D
  8. Haa! Finally made good progress with The Coffin Dancer and I'm loving it!! Can't wait to see how it turns out! Can I make an early guess as to who the Dancer might be? I think it might be We shall see!
  9. Just a quick note to say I can't put The Coffin Dancer down! At page 203 (the part where the Dancers in the basement of the building opposite the safe house) Heeeee......think I'll put myself to bed early tonight so I can get a few more pages read!!:D:D:D

  10. With the exception of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Snuff by Chuck Palaniuk, I never really know when things are due to be released to be honest. I usually have a wander around Waterstones at the weekend and if a new book by a good author is on the shelves I'll get it. I'm not a forward thinker!
  11. The presentation was good thanks! I've just handed in my 1000 word summary of the presentation today. That gets marked and given back to me and then I need to expand it to 2500 words which needs to be handed in on 22nd May. The 1000 word thing sounds pretty pointless to me but I just do what they tell me to.

Oh my goodness.....you did a presentation in a second language? I'd never be able to do it! There's 2 Polish students and one Chinese student on our course and they seem to struggle when it comes to speaking in public but it's understandable. We have complete respect for them for doing it.:):):)

  12. Hey Frankie!

Thanks for that :D I'm not really put off by film tie-in covers....I never really thought about it until I noticed that so many people in the forum dislike them. I like a nice cover (especially textured covers for some reason) but I suppose it's whats inside that counts!

How were your Mayday celebrations? And how you getting along with Making Waves? I definitely don't remember it being like that when I was a teenager....I was obsessed with the same boy from the age of 11 until I was about 20! He kept asking me out so I'd say yes.....then he wouldn't talk to me so I'd break up with him. A few weeks would pass and he'd ask me out again....I'd say yes and he still wouldn't talk to me! That went on until I was about 16! Then he spoke so all good!! So yeah....I think the author must think that's what teenagers want to hear....or maybe they were what we Geordies call a 'floozy' in their teenage years!

  13. Oh I read that book......it was hilarious! I always wondered if people still carried on with the collective after the book was published.
  14. Oh my goodness.....this is so annoying isn't it!! You can't get past them and you have a whole line of people backing up behind you......it's a nightmare! And it's usually some little old dear checking her purse or rummaging through her handbag!
  15. Haaaa!
  16. Chav's who play loud music on their mobiles when using public transport. I'm sure they love that bang-bang music but it's pretty rude to assume that everyone else wants to hear it too. Plus I'm usually trying to read and it's distracting!
  17. Same here! A few of my friends were considering starting a book club but we couldn't agree on a set day to meet as everyone's really busy etc so I asked Jeeves too and wound up here
  18. I loved this book too! The way in which it's wriiten takes a couple of chapters to get used to but it's an amazing book!
  19. I read Memoirs of A Geisha a few years ago and couldn't put it down! It was brilliant! I'm definitely adding this book to my 'must buy asap' list.
  20. What a self-righteous witch!! I'd have done exactly the same BookJumper! I thought your reply was brilliant and I doubt she'll be responding I used to persevere with books I didn't really enjoy as I used to think that the author had put so much time into writing it so I really should, but that all changed when I read The Memory Keepers Daughter. It was dreadful and I was just holding on, waiting for the grand finale which didn't happen.....a whole week wasted! Now I'll put a book down if I'm not enjoying it and not feel bad about it. I don't think the author had let me down as such, I just think it wasn't to my taste. I like books that keep you on the edge of your seat and books that get audible responses out of me. I've spoken to someone who really enjoyed that book so each to their own I suppose. Well done you for dealing with Miss Nasty!
  21. Nicola

    Newbie!

:welcome2:Hey RCee! Welcome to the forum!
  22. Oh this is on my summer TBR list! I think your enthusiasm just moved it up the list by a few places
  23. I think Deborah is a nasty piece of work! I thought the way she spoke to Nick was bordering on vicious. Good on Sir Alan for dressing her down! I reckon that Kate could be in the final and maybe even Lorraine who I'm not too keen on. Ben is hilarious....the way he was ranting about being good in a war situation with explosions going off etc etc was too funny! Has he been to war?
  24. Yeah Holland was full of people who were either looking great or really bad! I think a lot of the time I was picking things up and because of the pound being weak at the moment, things were really expensive. Something that would cost me

  25. Thanks Frankie!

Eeeeeeek! Presentation today....in about an hour! I'm really really really dreading it although it's only in front of about 15 people. Last year I had to present in front of the entire group which was about 60 people

I'm going to have to look for that book! I need to sort out meeting my friend to see the movie but we're both pretty busy at the moment so it's difficult.

Wow....you've finished already! I've got some catching up to do!! Can't wait to read Lestat! Hope it's as good as I'm imagining...Haa!! Teen romance......I forgot about those sort of books. They used to have a few in our school library but they were always booked out by girls hoping for a bit of a kissing scene!
