  1. I've just had cod in Parsley sauce with brocolli. I also had a Skinny Cow chocolate icecream lolly which was surprisingly nice
  2. I'm just about to start this book tonight/tomorrow morning thanks to Charm Then I'm going to read the Stone Monkey as I found a copy in a really cool little 2nd hand book shop in Whitby.
  3. Frankie!!

I'm good thanks! How are you? I'm glad your enjoying your summer and also glad you're back! It's been quiet around here :lurker:

I've been away for a few days to Whitby which is where Bram Stoker's Count Dracula turned up, causing mayhem on his way (I've not read the book myself but there's loads of tourist tat.....bats, fangs, fake blood )

I've also finished (eventually!!) Let The Right One In. I've finally found my 10/10!! Only kidding! Still have no idea what I think about it. The ending was really good but I'm not sure if it was worth reading the rest of the book to get there. Oskar's story is really good but the others aren't too great.

So what are you reading at the moment Miss Frankie? How's the health drive going? :D

  4. Hey Roxi!

Well I finally finished it and must admit that the last 5th of the book was quite gripping. The last few chapters were really gripping. I think it was worth persevering with in the end :D But it was hard work at some points.

Anyhow, when you start to read it again let me know what you think as I'd be interested to see what you make of it :D Hope your friend likes it too!

  5. Hey Charm!

Yesterday evening I came home to Jeffrey Deaver!! Well......the book you sent (to find the actual Jeffrey Deaver sat on my sofa would've been probably quite alarming!! Haa!)

Thanks so much again! I'll get it read and pop it in the post asap! :D:D:D

  6. Charm is sending me The Blue Nowhere in the post and I can't wait to get started! I've not read any Deaver book that isn't in the Lincoln Rhyme series so I'm really looking forward to it :D
  7. Dear me!!!! That's a lot of books!
  8. Well the movie was being shown at a local cinema for a week in April and I really fancied seeing it but I was on a fieldtrip with uni so missed it

I've heard so many good reviews which is why I bought the book but hopefully it'll be out on DVD soon :) I'm thinking (hoping!) that it's going to be one of those books that just click at the end and leave you gobsmacked as it's a best seller in Sweden.

Oskar is definitely the book's highlight....he's so endearing isn't he. I really hope he gets a happy ending :D

  9. Ah thank you so much Charm! I'll get it read asap :D

I'm really looking forward to it after hearing so many good reviews! :D

    Thanks again xx

  10. Hey Roxi!

Just wondering how your finding Let The Right One In? I'd love to hear your opinions as I'm really not too sure about it myself. :dunno::D

  11. How about something by Jeffrey Deaver? I would highly recommend the Lincoln Rhyme series
  12. I don't mind short books and have a few books containing short stories too....my favourite being Isaac Bashevis Singer's Short Stories. Sometimes I think it's nice to have something quick to read that can be finished in one sitting. As long as the story is quite direct in reaching its point then I find short stories and books fine.
  13. Mine is tiny....maybe 5 books purely because I prefer to buy books from shops and Amazon in my very last option. I think the books on my wishlist are textbooks for uni too! I'm not very good am I?!
  14. More low fat homous in a wrap filled with salad (still on this fricking diet) On the upside, I have 5 points to use on dessert by the end of tonight so I'm sat wondering what to have now
  15. Go for it Ben! Even if you don't get far in the process it's all good experience eh Why not!!??!!
  16. Wow......what book is this? It's sounds quite bizarre!
  17. Ah don't be glum Mac! I'm reading a book at the moment that I'm not too sure about. I'll finish it but I'm not sure if I'm enjoying it.....bizarre!! haa!! Well enjoy your beer, books and peaceful quiet
  18. I've re-read quite a few of my books once with books like Great Expectations, Wuthering Heights and the Harry Potter books being read so many times I've lost count! I normally re-read when I've lost my reading mojo
  19. Currently, I'm a man who has murdered a number of people in order to keep the object of my obsessive affection (a vampire) alive. After being caught mid-murder, I've decided to pour acid on my face to avoid identification and kill myself. It hasn't worked and now I'm disfigured. (This book enters new levels of bizarre with each sitting) Let The Right One In - John Ajvide Lindqviste
  20. I'm the same. I could read my way through a football match and miss a goal. It's a really good thing to be able to do as I read a lot on buses and I like to read while having a coffee in the tearooms in town. I spent quite a lot of time visiting grandparents in hospital when I was younger and my family would laugh at how I'd say hello, sit down and zone them out until it was time to leave again. I have one bookmark that I use all the time. It's a Roald Dahl Matilda bookmark and I've had it for so long now. If I buy a book which I can't resist I might start it on the bus and use the receipt to mark it. I'm also a bit of a nightmare for turning over the corners () if I have to put it down in a hurry (like seeing my bus stop fly by!) I also like to finish at the end of a chapter if possible but I'm not too fussy. I don't think I'm a fidgity person when reading and my favourite places to read are in bed at home, Tyneside Cinema Tearooms in Newcastle and Blakes Coffee Shop in Newcastle.
  21. Me too Mac! In fact, I think I'll watch it now. I have the house to myself for the night and I'm spoilt for choice! I was going to read but I think Pan's Labyrinth sounds better
  22. Hey SillyBeggar! Welcome to the forum! I love your user name :welcomebcf:
  23. Thanks Charm! You're a gem! :D

  24. You really really really need to get reading Mr Deaver Mac! I've decided to take a break and read something else but it's just not as good! (I think I have such high expectations these days! Haaa! ) I'm very well Mac, how about yourself?
  25. Ah that would be so great Charm if you wouldn't mind? I'll pm you now with my address and I'll read it asap. I'll pop it in the post to Lixiepiper too :D:D
