  1. It's what makes a movie (or video footage, whatever in the world that thing really was), effective.

What's your favorite horror film? Though I'm expecting 'The Shining' as answer :P

  2. Welcome, Scarlette, and I hope you have much fun here as well.
  3. I completely forgot to mention this one. I was hesitant to read it at first, but boy am I glad that I did. And of course now I also have to add The Black Dagger Brotherhood series, by J. R. Ward, since it's only fair .
  4. Well said, and completely agreed. If you love reading, if you read, if you enjoy picking up a book and sitting down with it and going through it cover to cover, then that makes you a reader. You don't need to read only the classics (unless you enjoy them, and then well good for you!), but simply what you wish to and feel drawn to read, whatever that may be. As far as I'm concerned, that's all it takes to make one a reader. That's happened to me with more than one classic, so I completely understand. Case and point: Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain. I was never able to read the whole book because I simply did not enjoy it even though I truly, truly tried.
  5. A good deal of the books that I read have something or other in them that always bring a laugh to me at certain moments throughout the read. But off the top of my head now, I'd have to say that one of the funniest books I've read so far is called Happy Hour at Casa Dracula, by Marta Acosta; it has a rather amusing first-person account of things throughout the book.
  6. I've noticed this in some books by James Patterson. Cradle and All was first published as Virgin, Black Friday had previously been out by the title of Black Market, and then See How They Run went first by the name of The Jericho Commandment.
  7. The ending of it was the worst for me. I kept wanting to see what they saw, but at the same time I was so scared that I would actually get to see something. I was never able to see that video footage by myself. And I have only seen it twice in my life, lol.

  8. I think there's a group like that in every school. I had even friends of mine sometimes find me in the library with a book, or in the hallway reading, or even in class while there was a break and ask me "Why are you reading?" Ditto!
  9. They have Twilight Zone marathons on Sci-Fi all the time. They went through two days straight of them.

Blair Witch Project...you know, many people said that movie was not at all scary, but I found it to be one of the most disturbing videos I have ever come across.

  10. Well that is interesting, I'll give you that, and who's to says what it was (on both accounts) or was not. It sort of reminds me of the Twilight Zone episodes though *smiles*, one especially that related to a supposed alien craft that landed on the home of a woman living alone. Turned out to be, lo and behold, a government contraption.

  11. Well, not all addictive things are bad so I'm sure we'll all be alright
  12. lol, it's not a stupid question. It's an interesting one though *g*. And, no, I've never seen one.

    When/how did you?

  13. Maybe not as much of a newbie anymore And it truly is. There's just so much to take part in that one can't help but jump right in. Wow...that post count certainly changed
  14. Same here! I've been looking through all the movies I can find of him that I might not have seen before and giving them all a chance. They're definite movies to pass a great time with while watching. Great choice, Kell
  15. Wonderful, on all points you've expressed
  16. It is strange. But I think that's also what makes it fascinating.

  17. Three of my favorite movies. Those are terrific choices! if only for Cary Grant being in them all .
  18. Isn't that lovely about the stars and moon? Well, the whole universe for that matter. It just goes to show that there are things bigger and more powerful than us out there, though we sometimes forget it.

  19. Absolutely. Not many forums out there have a good social gathering in them. And thank you for your comment on my background! :D I love all things that picture the nighttime scene, especially if the moon is clearly depicted.

  20. Is it odd that, for me, comfort DVDs tend to be horror films? The Shining, Silent Hill, Halloween, Rose Red...all of those are favorites of mine in this instance.
  21. Oh yes, I'm still a newbie. Thanks to you as well
  22. I love, love love love, books with such a creepy twist to them. I've never picked up anything by Jeffrey Deaver either, but from the looks of The Broken Window, he might have a few books that would definitely interest me. This one in itself looks quite promising. Oh and once again (as I already posted in the book's specific thread), I truly hope you enjoy The Picture of Dorian Gray. Can't wait to see what you have to say about it .
