  1. Hello there :) I got my background at Deviantart.com

  2. *laughs* Yea my boyfriend has been recommending him to me for ages now. And since I wanted to get into horror, I went for his works. Just glad that my library has a few books of his.

  3. Hey there, welcome to the forum, Natty.
  4. I have one main thing at the moment... I'm in another forum, where I make banners as signatures for people. My shop is currently closed for requests while I finish the gazillion that I need to complete. But there are some members who don't seem to understand that all I do throughout the day, is not make banners, so I cannot work as fast as they seem to want me to, and I'm backed up with orders. That means, that they need to stop poking their heads into my shop and posting every five minutes "When can I place an order?" Honestly, is patience such a difficult concept to grasp? Alright, done ranting. I do feel better.
  5. Crime...well the Koontz book I recommend does have a crime, but not right off at the beginning. So I'm not sure if you already read it.

And I agree on the short stories. But Lovecraft was and is the master of horror, so hopefully he'll grab me from the start.

  6. My choices would be (in no order): The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupery Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales, by Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm Your Favorite Seuss: A Baker's Dozen from the One and Only Dr. Seuss, by Dr. Seuss Peter Pan, by J. M. Barrie Coraline, by Neil Gaiman
  7. Koontz is quite good. Have you read Intensity by him? If not, I highly recommend.

One of the Lovecraft books I got is called The Horror in the Museum, and the other one is titled The Transition of H. P. Lovecraft: the road to madness. They're supposed to be short story books, and I don't tend to read those but I do enjoy them, so I'm quite excited to get my hands on the books.

  8. I've had that one in my sights for a while but I never decide whether or not I want to read it. Will be looking out for your thoughts on the book once you finish it
  9. Oh how are you liking Lovecraft? I requested two of his short story books from the library and will be picking them up soon. I also requested some Dean Koontz and a few other horror authors. And a "Scariest Urban Legends" book 'cause I was curious :P

  10. Well of course! King is brilliant *g*

I'm just eagerly awaiting for the books I've requested to arrive. I'm ready for some horror novels and short stories to fall into my hands.

  11. Well that eliminates it for me right there atm, lol

  12. It's nice to be here again but I still don't know for sure if I'll be permanent *sighs* And I know how that goes, what you're going through. It's horrible when we can't just read all and anything that we want throughout life and do nothing else. While still being able to support ourselves
  13. Ah, Stephen King's series. I took that out of my TBR pile because I just don't think that I can manage that right now.

  14. Oh gosh I haven't read the Dark Tower series either.... 6/10
  15. I truly do! And I might just do that. Thank you for stopping by, anisia. I need to take a peek into your thread as soon as I'm able to so that I can see what you've been up to
  16. I for one think that it would improve the work of a few of them, so it couldn't hurt them in the least.
  17. They've been gladly taken. Now I just need to decide on what book to pick up first from the pile that I've requested. That might make the decision on whether I've completely lost my mojo or not.
  18. Thanks, Rawr! The busy time is lessening now, so yea, I might just drop by permanently. I definitely miss reading and blogging (the blog had to go so I need a new one).
  19. Thanks! I absolutely love it myself. As you can see I went on a decorating spree, lol

And hey that's good about you. I see you still have Dracula as your 'currently reading' *g*

  20. I voted for The Monster Book of Monsters. Sure, it's a tad violent and not at all safe to open without precautions, but it's always been my favorite whenever it's appeared either in one of the books, or movies...most likely because to its dangerous qualities .
  21. I have a few favorite poets, among them (in no order)... William Blake Sir Walter Raleigh Dante Alighieri John Keats Matthew Gregory Lewis
  22. I really enjoyed Angels and Demons (definitely going to go and watch the film when it's released in theaters) but I wasn't too crazy about The Da Vinci Code. Nonetheless, I'm most likely going to read The Lost Symbol out of curiosity and hope that the book will be in my good graces by the time I finish it.
  23. I don't mind reading in the car. But the problem is that when I ride in a car someone always has to have some sort of music going, therefore the radio is either turned on, or there's a CD playing. And being one of those people that prefers as much silence as possible when she reads, I hardly ever read in the car.
  24. Ditto. I hardly even remember most of the details in the book because I recall forcing myself through it after I'd read through mid-book. It was not a 'bad' book, but it's not a huge deal either. Haven't seen the movie yet however. Another two I would put right up there with Eco's is Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Love in the Time of Cholera and F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. They are two of the most boring books that I have ever come across. I was never able to finish Marquez's because every time I picked it up I ran the risk of falling asleep (and did, twice!). And the only reason I read through The Great Gatsby was because otherwise I would have failed my exam in English class in high school.
