Starting this either now or when I get up.. most likely when I get up. Will be my first March read! :D

Synopsis.

This is the magical story of Santiago, a shepherds boy who dreams of travelling the world to seek the most wonderful treasures known to man. From his home in Spain, he journey's to the markets of Tangiers and from there, into the Egyptian desert, where a fateful encounter with the alchemist awaits him.

This looks absolutely brilliant, anyone else read it?

Yes, a few years ago for school. I didnt like it much unfortunately but I hope you'll enjoy it more! It seems to be a 'love it or hate it' kind of book.

So you did enjoy Cell in the end?

I haven't read it, but it's on my Around The World challenge list, so I shall be reading it at some point this year I think, so let me know what you think of it! :D

The Alchemist is definitely love it or hate it. I fall into the latter category. I hope you enjoy it more, Ben!

I did enjoy it very much; if I'm honest I enjoyed it all the way through, I don't really understand why I got stuck. I guess the plot was a little bit hard to follow at some points.

Will do Lexi, hope you get around to reading it for your challenge.

Finished. - The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho.

Review. (Coming shortly)

Hmm, still not sure about this, it wasn't bad, and it wasn't brilliant. Sometimes it was hard to get into, but then once I was into it I found it quite enjoyable. Not sure..

Those that have read it, what made you like/dislike it?

I think you probably summed that up actually Kylie. I'm not sure though, there was something about it that I did enjoy. When I've got the time to review I guess I'll try collect all my thoughts into something that's not an incoherent ramble.

Will be starting a new book when I get home, really not sure what though. I'm reluctant to start The Host, because I've heard mixed opinions. Perfume is a possibility. Meh, I'm going, I'll decide when I get home!

Ok, I'm going with The Host. And I may dip into Perfume if I'm not enjoying The Host. Sounds like a solution to me.

Synopsis from the back of the book.

Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed.

Wander, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human; the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the man Melanie loves--Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off to search for the man they both love.

Looking forward to this, although not sure when I can start. :)

Ok, if you're anything like me (and a few others who have said the same) you might struggle with the beginning of The Host a little. I thought it had quite a slow start. But, it's worth carrying on with! I really enjoyed it.

First couple of chapters were a little annoying.. but I'm about 5/6 in now, and it's starting to get into it a little bit. I like the idea of were the story is going to go.. I'm reading it fairly slow though..

Just a little update. About 200 pages into The Host and I'm starting to enjoy it now. (:

I will, it's just getting the time to read it. I'm enjoying it much more than the Twilight series, I think that's because it's so different.

Has anyone else read Twilight and The Host? Which one did you prefer from Stephenie Meyer's books? :smile2:
