  1. Wow, I don't think I've ever met anyone who hated peanut butter, and now I know two! I think it was a major staple in our house growing up; we had it on sandwiches, celery, apples, bananas. I don't have it that often now, but sometimes I get a craving . Comfort food for me nowadays is anything sweet to go with my coffee. Namely a scone or cheese danish .
  2. I almost picked this one up the other day, Blithe. The cover really attracted me . You'll have to let us know what you think. I've only managed to get in a few pages of Ghostwalk the last couple days, but hopefully I will get lots in this weekend while I'm at the cabin.
  3. Great, Gyre! Let us know what you think . I was concerned for my movie-going-wellbeing at first but it turned out to be very enjoyable for me . I hope you like it!
  4. I've not seen the Time Traveler's Wife or Harry Potter, but probably after they come to DVD. I do however really want to see this film called 'Extract' which opens here I think this weekend or next. It's from Mike Judge, who also did 'Office Space,' which is a favorite of mine. I also still really want to see 'It Might Get Loud,' with Jack White, the Edge and Jimmy Page. Hopefully one of these days!
  5. I haven't yet seen any of the Bourne movies, Suek. Is it true that one might get motion sickness whilst watching because of the camera work?! I have one friend who gets very easily sick at stuff like that, so she was probably a little biased, hee. Last night I was home a bit late for a full movie viewing, but I managed to squeeze in two or three songs from my Chili Pepper's Live at Slane Castle DVD. I've been in such a Pepper mood lately it really hit the spot .
  6. Hello and welcome, NovaLee! Glad you joined us .
  7. Lately I've just been using free bookmarks from the library or 1/2 Price Books. My cat loves playing with them for some reason and has gotten into the habit of biting the corners, lol.
  8. I second Mac's recommendation of The Historian and The Secret History. Unfortunately I've not read the rest of the books you listed in your post, BookJumper, but hopefully some day soon .
  9. I had no desire to make dinner when I got home so I had a few crackers with boursin cheese, a banana and now am listening to the popcorn pop away on the stove...
  10. I was reminded of a film that I walked out of quite a few years ago called 'Fire Down Below' with Steven Segal. It definitely was not a movie I normally would have seen, but I went because my brother-in-law had a very small stunt part in it . As soon as I saw his little scene where he got knocked out by Segal, I was outta there .
  11. Amelie is one I have yet to see, and I kick myself whenever I notice it mentioned because I still haven't seen it! Speaking of French films, as anyone seen The Horseman on the Roof? I loved that one immensely.
  12. I LOVE the Black Keys, Gyre! They are excellent . I listen to the tracks 'I Got Mine' and 'Your Touch' all the time. They have a really good sound, and it's just the two guys! Very rough, southern rocker-ish sounding. Good stuff!
  13. Well, Mac, are you going to tell us if you made any progress with this Waterstone's angel?! While I keep my eye out for familiar authors, if I like the sound of a book by reading the dust jacket or first few pages, I'll read it if the author is unknown or not. Sometimes I like to snoop around and look at those sections that say 'if you liked author x, try this author.' I find a lot of books that way, and I think it's a good way to find new books within my favorite genres.

    Iya

Hey there and welcome to BCF, Cap! Glad to have ya .
  15. Chicken florentine with loads of yummy spinach for meeee .
  16. What about other types of greens, Amethyst, like spinach, kale or arugula? I always like to mix things up since I get easily bored . Cous-cous and veggies are always good, or taboulleh (my fave).
  17. I agree, Chesilbeach, hopefully there are some tween fangirls out there who get introduced to books like WH and actually like them. Even if it's just a few, it's worth it if they can make a new discovery of something different than Twilight. I know that's not the marketers aim (obviously money is), but I try to see the bright side too .
  18. Oh yeah I forgot about Gilmore Girls! I also was reminded of Dawson's Creek theme, it was a female singer but of course now I can't think of her name. I think you're right about the Life Goes On theme, Frankie. And yep, the mom was played by Patti Lupone, an excellent singer! She was in the original broadway version of Evita, among other shows, and I even got to see her perform in one called Sunset Blvd.
  19. I haven't seen the Wuthering Heights cover yet. But I can't help it, I like the look of Aro. I just love Michael Sheen in general though so anything he does I'll like . I do like how the rest of them look too. I can't wait to see them on the big screen!
  20. Ooooh this guy could hang out and be broody with FSE!
  21. Oh yeah, Frankie! That was a Beatles song, right? Ah I loved that show .
  22. I just remembered the Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends theme! I would be hanging out with my 4 year old nephew and as soon as he heard that music start he would get so excited and run all over the house, . I would have loved a cartoon like that when I was little! Anyway, I love the music and it also makes me think of the little guy .
  23. I just returned from an impromptu dinner after work and it was YUM! We both split shrimp scampi and some amazing mussels swimming in butter and white wine. Mmmmm!
  24. Oooohh, interesting, Muggle Not! I'm sure I'll think of more, but here are a few... Cheers M.A.S.H. The West Wing Love Boat (cheesy, I know, but so many memories!) True Blood More will come to me soon!
  25. My vote goes for The Shining, Blackstar! Definitely one of my most faves. I would also highly recommend Christine, and his short story books Night Shift and Different Seasons are excellent.
