  1. Very lovely shelves, Chesil and Kylie! I'm officially jealous . I don't have any Potter books (not to say that I won't eventually have them one day) but do have many King books. I cannot seem to part with all the old school novels of his I read in high school. Pet Cemetery, Cujo, Carrie, Christine, Salem's Lot, Different Seasons, Night Shift, and my personal fave, The Shining .
  2. We made some really good homemade pizza tonight, with big slices of fresh mozzarella, basil leaves and fresh tomatoes. Yummy stuff!
  3. I was a late bloomer and never got to see Twilight in the theatre. Trust me though, when I go to New Moon I'm going to see an early matinee while school is in session! I won't be able to handle being in the middle of a sea of screaming tweens, yuck. Being able to silently enjoy your obsession whilst perhaps wearing a disguise is more my style .
  4. Peter Petford slipped a long wooden spoon into the simmering iron pot of lentils hanging over the fire and tried to push the worry from his stomach. The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe
  5. "But get this," said Connie. "I couldn't find Mercy anywhere. I know that records can sometimes be incomplete from this period, but it just seemed kind of strange to have her vanish with no trace whatsoever." The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe
  6. I ended up making a garlic and white bean soup last night and saved the chicken for tonight. I figured I should probably cook up a bunch of it to have on my salads this week, so I sauteed it and at the end added some lovely balsamic vinegar for it to swim in .
  7. Yeah, Inver, how are you liking New Moon so far? Bee, New Moon has grown on me as well and I have loved re-reading it. I liked Eclipse, although that and BD are ones that I've only read once. Seeing everyone ranking Eclipse as their fave I think a re-read is in order soon . Obviously BD will stay on the shelf except for an occasional read of my fave bits... It's so exciting to read the thoughts of everyone reading them for the first time!
  8. I've always tended to sort my books by genre and by author. It also has to do with size, since the shelves on the bottom hold larger books and the top shelf smaller ones. I also only have one bookshelf in my living room right now and that's reserved for the 'pretty' books . The shelves in my bedroom hold the oldies but goodies and are arranged by genre and author. Hopefully my collection will eventually be built back up to what it used to be and I'll have to resort to having random stacks everywhere!
  9. I believe you can disqualify Rawr's vote as he's obviously in denial. He loves sparklies but just hasn't fully come to the realization yet . Yay, Nici! Do me a favor and watch it next time with the commentary on, okay? Then come back and let us know what you thought .
  10. Great review, Lexie! I'm excited now to read this book as well as the Glassblower of Murano. Please let us know what you think of that one. Historical fiction is probably one of my favorite genres so I'm glad you are starting to get into it .
  11. This fall here in the US The Mentalist is going to be switching to Thursday nights so I will definitely have to remind myself so I won't miss it! I watch so little TV now that I don't have cable, but I still can't remember sometimes when certain shows are on. Oh, and Simon Baker is definitely someone I would consider changing my av picture for .
  12. It's always those with the most adamant of protests that you have to keep an eye on you know .
  13. How far are you guys in the TV version? I just finished watching the first season but have no idea what's happened so far in the second. I swooned a lot during the first, .
  14. Gee... I wonder what my vote was?!
  15. Something with chicken for me tonight, just not sure what. I saw Giada make a lovely looking white bean/chicken chili last weekend so that may be in order. However that would involve a trip to the market for other ingredients and I still haven't gotten out of my pj's...
  16. Thankfully I live by myself and the cat is clueless so she probably wasn't shocked when I let out a little 'squee' whilst watching those clips. Ditto though on seeing the clips without the background fangirls commentary. And sorry, but how amped up was the cheese-ness factor when Very cool second clip though from Italy. Definitely leaves us wanting MORE!
  17. Hiya and ditto on what everyone else said - welcome back, Adam!

    Hey All

    Hiya and welcome, Timmo!!
  23. Ugh, I hate that, Roxi! It's especially lovely when I go through the door at the market, get a shopping cart and the person in front of me has decided to stop. Right there in the middle of the doorway! Usually it's to look at coupons or pick up a box of day-old donuts, . I've noticed many annoying shopping habits people have come to think of it...
  24. I know, I know...everyone thinks that! I can't help it though, . I don't look it either, and I can thank my mom for that, who has hardly any gray hair and is in her 70's!
  25. The film wasn't cinematic genius, but it is obviously enjoyable and has a way of sucking you in! Goodness knows I've seen it more times than I can even count.... Maybe the Twilight Saga of films could get its own thread here, huh? I think I saw that Harry Potter got his own . Then we wouldn't have to hijack this one with movie talk.
