Leftover turkey chili from last night. It's probably not a good sign that I'm already sick of it...

Hey now, Charm, you can't say that until you've thoroughly conducted your 'research!' Speaking of, now that she's done with the first book, isn't it your turn to pick it up? -
Ugh, Max. Yuck. Lots of good quotes/dialogue in this episode! Doesn't Lorelei call the evil headmaster 'il duce?' LOL

Donnie Darko was an excellent film! And I'm sure Roxi knows that the lovely Mr. Rathbone is in the new S. Darko film . I forgot that one of my fave directors Spike Jonze has done a film of Where the Wild Things Are. I think it's out this autumn with all the rest of the films I want to see!

LOL So very confusing! But I must admit, now I have a craving for it - lots of good memories in this dish. Maybe I should stop at the market on the way home...

Nope, you are right, Stephanie! I guess I didn't see the batter part. I need to go to the English pub we have downtown and ask for it off the menu I guess .

Here's the synopsis for you, Roxi, from IMDB: Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is nearing the end of his contract with Lunar. He has been a faithful employee for three long years. His home has been Selene, a moon base where he has spent his days alone, mining Helium-3. The precious gas holds the key to reversing the Earth's energy crisis. Isolated, determined, and steadfast, Sam has followed the rulebook obediently, and his time on the moon has been enlightening, but uneventful. The solitude has given him time to reflect on the mistakes of his past and to work on his raging temper. He does his job mechanically and spends most of his available time dreaming of his imminent return to Earth, to his wife, young daughter and an early retirement. But two weeks shy of his departure from Selene, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things, and feeling strange. And, when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he discovers that Lunar have their own plans for replacing him and that the new recruit is eerily familiar. Before he can return to Earth, Sam has to confront himself and the discovery that the life he has created may not be his own. It's more than his contract that is set to expire. FYI, this film is being released this month in the US and on 17 July in the UK.

Hey thanks, Chrissy! Sounds kind of what we call 'Pigs in a Blanket' here .

I saw a preview yesterday for Moon and I decided I really want to see it. I'm normally not a huge sci-fan person, but I've loved Sam Rockwell ever since I saw him in 'Box of Moonlight' so I think I might give this one a go. The director is pretty new and has only done a couple of things, so it'll be interesting to see if I like his style.

Okay, all I recognized out of that was beans! Can you translate the rest of it for this American, Kell? Looking forward to a yummy chicken/artichoke bake tonight. Lots of lemon-y, garlic-y and white wine goodness!

I wanted to give this thread a bump and endorse my home state's most excellent writer/director team, Joel and Ethan Coen . I'm really looking forward to seeing their new one entitled A Serious Man, which comes out here in the States on 9 October. It was filmed here too this past winter/spring. Here's a synopsis from IMDB: It is 1967, and Larry Gopnik, a physics professor at a quiet midwestern university, has just been informed by his wife Judith that she is leaving him. She has fallen in love with one of his more pompous colleagues, Sy Ableman, who seems to her a more substantial person than the feckless Larry. Larrys unemployable brother Arthur is sleeping on the couch, his son Danny is a discipline problem and a shirker at Hebrew school, and his daughter Sarah is filching money from his wallet in order to save up for a nose job. While his wife and Sy Ableman blithely make new domestic arrangements, and his brother becomes more and more of a burden, an anonymous hostile letter-writer is trying to sabotage Larrys chances for tenure at the university. Also, a graduate student seems to be trying to bribe him for a passing grade while at the same time threatening to sue him for defamation. Plus, the beautiful woman next door torments him by sunbathing nude. Struggling for equilibrium, Larry seeks advice from three different rabbis. Can anyone help him cope with his afflictions and become a righteous person; a mensch, a serious man?

Thanks for posting that, Lexie! I'm a little undecided about the new cover, but I'm leaning towards dislike for a few reasons. I agree that they look too close, and I can't really decipher Bella's facial expression either. A blog I read compared it to a Harlequin romance book cover, lol. I also like the idea of a faded Edward in the background, but it looks too air-brushy to me to me and a bit of an amateur Photoshop job. Am I being too critical?! -
Noooo you're not crazy! We just have different taste, see . I didn't read Cloud Atlas, but I LOVED 'Dante Club' and 'The Secret History.' I've read both of them multiple times in fact. Ah well, what can you do?!

I'm not quite sure on the mood thing, Readwine, at least for me. It usually takes me quite a long time to read a book, and my moods don't drag on. Who knows though - I may be completely out of it, since 2 of your 3 hated books are probably some of my favorite books I've ever read!

The only one that comes to mind right now while I'm in my caffeine-riddled state is The Third Secret by Steve Berry. While I enjoyed this book as I read along, the ending made me want to scream and throw it in the wood-chipper! Honestly, the ending was so ridiculous I felt really bad for having wasted my time on the whole book.
