  1. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it, ladymacbeth. I loved this book and while I will admit it is a slow read, I found the writing style to be gorgeous and so many thought-provoking themes. The ending, especially the last paragraph and it's relationship to the characters, made me weep and haunted me for days. I hope your next read is enjoyable for you. I just finished Invisible by Paul Auster and while it was okay, I have read better by this author. The ending made absolutely no sense to me. Maybe I am missing something.
  2. Mmmmm... pizza.

  3. Thank you, vodkafan. It's added to my wishlist.
  4. I'm very sentimental sometimes. Beautifully written literature will always do me in. It doesn't even have to be something sad. If an author has a way with words, where he or she places an image in my head, something I never thought of before, I can find it exquisitely painful.
  5. I just purchased The Complete Works of Henry James for my Kindle. Sure, I might not like everything he has written, but for $2.99 if I only like one, it was worth it. I'm loving Kindle and the classics.
  6. Oh, this was a lovely story. It was in the book I mentioned. It made me cry.
  7. I just bought Judgement by Anathema. This is a new band for me, so I hope I like it.
  8. How'd that happen? Did they just fall into a bag and your money just fell into the register?
  9. I read a book of his short stories and you are right, his writing style is wonderful. I really must get around to reading The Picture of Dorian Gray.

    Hi!

It's in Crystal River on route 44. It's an old house converted into a used book store. The rooms are divided by genre. It may not stay open much longer. There are a lot of places closing around here.

    Hi!

No way! I'm in Citrus County. Hi, neighbor. *waves* Oh, and have you ever been to Poe House Books? I just thought you might since you are a Poe fan and it's not too far from where you are.

    Hi!

I like Florida. It's just that I live here, and you might find me. Where in Florida are you from?

    Hi!

Hello and welcome. I see you are from Florida. I better hide.
  14. I have sufficiently genetically altered myself to no longer require water. I'm still reading The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen. It's light reading, but good. Invisible by Paul Auster will be next.
  15. You will be reading it, I will be doing it.
  16. This is what pops to mind, so it must be the one. The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt
  17. Comes in to make trouble with some Nice to meet you, Welshman.
  18. Mojo? What's a mojo? I hope you feel better soon, frankie.
  19. I don't, but I'm a true skeptic. I want to believe certain things, but I am too scientifically-minded to believe unless I have proof that satisfies me. I will be starting on The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sara Addison Allen. I liked her other two, so this should be good.
  20. I hope you will find a way to listen to that song I posted in the depression/anxiety forum. It really is gorgeous and so are you, girl.

  21. I did finally finish Linda Gillard's House of Silence, and it was excellent. I didn't think it was quite as good as Emotional Geology, though, as I thought the ending was too abrupt. There was a certain relationship I thought should have been explored a bit more.
