  1. Thought those interested in Boy's Life and other Robert McCammon works might like to know that 9 of his novels have just recently been released in e-book format. I know I saw them on amazon.com in the US.
  2. Oooooh, I hope you like Porcupine Tree as well. And if you do, check this out and tell me what you think. Their music is so beautiful, in my opinion.
  3. Love Modest Mouse. Listening to Reverse by The Pineapple Thief
  4. Finished Afterlife by Douglas Clegg, which was excellent if you like psychological horror and ambiguous endings. Reading The Distant Hours now by Kate Morton and really enjoying the creepiness. Also just received IQ84 by Haruki Murakami on my Kindle.
  5. Gave up on The Soldier Son Trilogy by Robin Hobb. It's just not as good as her other series. Reading Afterlife by Douglas Clegg. It is excellent so far and appropriate for Halloween.
  6. That is too funny! Reminds me that I always get annoyed when I hear the bass thumping from a nearby car, so loud my teeth hurt. I always think "Nobody else wants to hear your music, nor suffer physical pain from being forced to listen to it.
  7. Still reading the same book. I am reading every day, but it doesn't seem like I am getting anywhere.
  8. Hi and welcome, Julie. The Brits here are super awesome! We Yanks aren't so bad, either. Oh, and everyone else RULES! And everyone likes
  9. This is the one book that comes to mind that you can't go wrong with. Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, and it does take place in October. The one you chose, Ghost Story, by Peter Straub is excellent as well.

    Your Age?

I would wish for all good things for you, but without challenges, setbacks, and yes, bad things, we don't learn and grow. So I hope your "Fourth" life is one that is essential to your evolution, and you find what truly fulfills you. That is what I wish for myself. I miss 34. That was a good age.
  11. Not only do I read in different voices for different characters, I also think in different voices when I am not reading. Different emotions have a different vocal quality if my head.
  12. Yes, you must. I'm going to see him perform this stuff live on October 8th. *does a happy dance* Currently listening to Welcome to My DNA - Blackfield.
  13. For magic and romance you can't go wrong with any book by Patricia McKillip. Try one of these to start with: Winter Rose Alphabet of Thorn The Changeling Sea Her writing is beautiful and her books do not usually take a long time to get to the point.
  14. Reading Forest Mage by Robin Hobb, the second book in the Soldier Son trilogy. It's not bad, but I'm not making much headway. Too excited about other things at the moment.
  15. Well, I can tell you this. I wasn't that thrilled with Insurgentes, either. This is a quite different listening experience. Here is a suggestion. If you can find some place where you can listen to the song Raider II in it's entirety, try that. It's an epic 24 minutes long, and usually I would become bored with such a long song, but there was so much going on it kept my interest throughout. If you are not blown away by that, I would say Grace For Drowning is not for you.
  16. You're welcome, Hyzenthlay. Always glad to let others know when I think a book is awesome. I am also pleased to hear that others are agreeing with me on how good this book is.
  17. This place smells like books. :-)

  18. Just finished Shaman's Crossing, the first book in The Soldier Son Trilogy by Robin Hobb. It wasn't her best, but still interesting enough to continue on to the next in the series, Forest Mage.
  19. Listening to Open Mind by Wilco. I've been very busy listening to music lately. So many artists I love (some new to me, some not) have been coming out with new albums, and they are all mind-blowingly excellent. In particular: The Whole Love - Wilco Heritage - Opeth Night of Hunters - Tori Amos and last but not least Grace For Drowning - Steven Wilson. I may be biased when it comes to Steven Wilson, but this one deserves album of the year in my opinion. Atmospheric, heavily jazz-influenced, melodic, and sublime.
  20. Pretty much, yeah. And nothing wrong with finding Geddy attractive. I prefer Neil myself. I'm currently listening to On by Devin Townsend.
