  1. I loved that one. Can't wait for the next installment. I actually finished a book!!! Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore. If you like a fun, sometimes hilarious, story about a clueless vampiress, you will really enjoy this book. I'm going to read the sequel soon, which is called You Suck: A Love Story. I just started on The Hiding Place by Trezza Azzopardi. It's too soon to know what I think yet, but it's keeping my interest.
  2. I agree. Good literature has universal themes, so can speak to anyone from anywhere. Having said that, I do see a differences between English and American authors. I can't say I have a preference, though. I enjoy the themes and characters of a book most, and if the author can reach me with these, it doesn't matter where he or she comes from.
  3. I think it's just that men have a difficult time remembering anything, so remembering a pal's or mate's birthday would be way down on the list. He's got to keep all those strings on his fingers to remember the women in his life first, or there will be hell to pay.
  4. First of all, thank you everyone for your advice about reading. I have been getting a bit of reading in. It's slow going, but I am learning to adjust. I picked up Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore and I seem to be doing well with that one. Perhaps a light, comic read is exactly what I need right now.
  5. I don't want to sound like I'm whining, and maybe I am a little bit, but I am having the toughest time reading anything lately. The new house is so much smaller. Plus, the washer and dryer are right outside my bedroom. There is a sun room to read in, but even when I close the doors I can hear the television in the next room or my mom's voice, as she is always talking on the phone and her voice carries in this small house. Plus, my sister is always dropping by. My issue is I need complete quiet to concentrate on a book. I know some people can read anywhere, and I guess I am going to have to learn this skill or my reading days are over.
  6. In Gainesville now waiting for the furniture to arrive. Moving is not fun.

Embrace the change where you can, and keep in your heart a pebble of calm that you can grasp when needed. XXX

  7. Yesterday and today have been two of the weirdest stress days of my life. So much happening, one after the other. But I got through it without breaking down or freaking out. Yay, me!

    Your Age?

What was it like watching the universe being created? No, I didn't just ask that, did I? Have some
  9. How is everyone doing? Sending everyone
  10. Gave up on Mirror, Mirror because it was boring me to death. Reading Earthbound by Richard Matheson which is pretty good so far.
  11. Is The Pineapple Thief any good? I have heard they are similar to Radiohead and Porcupine Tree, which puts me on the fence of trying them out. I don't always love Radiohead, but usually PT blows me away. However, I don't want to listen to a PT copy cat, either. Listening to Alternative IV by Anathema.
  12. I absolutely love poppy's signature. Wish it was mine.
  13. No reading yet today, but I am determined to get through at least half of Mirror, Mirror by Gregory Maguire by the end of the day.
  14. Is it Friday yet? OMG, what am I saying? I don't even have a job. LOL

  15. I finally finished Fool Moon by Jim Butcher. I guess it was okay. I really wasn't that focused on it. I'm going to try Mirror, Mirror by Gregory Maguire after I read a short story by Poe on my Kindle.
  16. Are you kidding? Jared Leto was gorgeous. I don't know what he looks like now, but he was hot on that tv show.
  17. I'm going to boogie oogie oogie til I just can't boogie no more.

  19. You are all wonderful people. As I said in the other thread, the world is blessed because you all exist. Don't ever forget that! Do the smarty pants dance.
  20. I really have not been doing much reading lately. Too much going on, too much stress.
  21. I'm reading Time Enough For Love by Robert Heinlein when I have the time, so it is slow going. I guess I don't have time enough for love right now.
  22. How is everyone doing? I've been busy! :-)
