  6. Good to read so many positive reviews on this one as it's on my TBR pile so i think i'll move it nearer the top.
  7. White Teeth i didn't think much of & The Suspicions of Mr Wicher i found incredibly boring. Fingersmith , Lovely Bones , A Thousand Splendid Suns & Untold Stories i did enjoy. Life of Pi & Atonement are on my TBR pile.

  18. Has anyone read Closing Time by Joseph Heller? It's the sequel to Catch 22 which i read quite a few years ago.

  20. Yorkshire born & bred
  21. Ooh me too Chrissy:mrgreen: I still haven't got used to being in my forties though & would have been happy to stick at 39.
  22. I really enjoyed the Lovely Bones, i thought Sebold dealt with a difficult subject matter very sensitively but i do agree with others who said the ending was a bit of a let down. I also read Lucky & Almost Moon by the same author which also deal with difficult subjects, rape & the stress of being the sole care of an elderly parent. I thought Almost Moon was a fantastic book & wouldn't hesitate to recommend it even to those people who didn't enjoy the Lovely Bones.
  23. Thank goodness for that
  24. Before i joined the forum i thought i was the only one bought books faster than they could read them so it's quite reassuring to know i'm not alone. I'll add Thursday Next to my list
  25. I really hope they find her safe & sound. I'm sure her parents are beside themselves with worry at the moment.
