Nearly halfway through Alias Grace & my books arrived from Amazon today Low Cost Living & Vegetable, Fruit & Herb Growing in Small Spaces both by John Harrison.
I couldn't pick one as every decade has its good bands & some dross. I've got everything on my ipod from Dylan, Stones, Specials , Madness, Nirvana, White Stripes to the Kings of Leon my current favs.
I finished Night Watch last night & decided to start Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood this morning heres hoping that's it's as good as The Handmaidens Tale.
Night Watch tells the story of four people living in 1940s London during wartime. As with Sarah Waters other books the story has a lesbian theme, however i don't think this reduces it's appeal as most people will be able to identify with the insecurities, jealousy & conflicting emotions felt by the characters regardless of their sexual orientation. The strength of the book i think is in it's well developed characters but my one gripe is that because the story is told back to front, ending with it's beginning in 1941 a lot of the tension in the high anxiety scenes is lost as you already know what the outcome is. Overall though a really good atmospheric read.
That's what i do, if i leave a book too long i find i lose interest & don't finish it.
I've only got about fifty pages of Nightwatch left so will finish it tonight, haven't decided what i'm going to read next yet.
