  1. I spotted this in the new books section at the library mainly as it has a really nice cover, it does sound like a good story so i'll be interested to see what people think about it.
  2. I'm nearly at the halfway mark of Crimson Petal & the White & really enjoying it. I also got another haul from the charity shop today The Welsh Girl Peter Ho Davies The Glassblower of Murano Marina Fiorato The Outcast Sadie Jones and for the kids here lies Arthur Phillip Reeve Mothstorm Phillip Reeve The Book of Dead Days Marcus Sedgwick
  3. Well put:) When i was in my teens i read & enjoyed a lot of adult literature none of which made me want to jump in bed with the nearest boy , become a drug smuggler or has scarred me for life. I think it's quite patronising to teenagers to say that certain subjects are not suitable for them & my own children are free to choose what ever they wish to read without me casting a censorial eye over it.
  4. Thanks, i'll make sure i record it this time.

  16. Carrot cake with orange cream cheese icing
  17. When you have a large family then cooking from scratch is very cost efficient, probably our shopping bill would be double what it is if i bought everything ready made. Luckily i enjoy cooking so don't mind the extra time it takes to prepare at home. I would also say that supermarkets aren't always the cheapest option, markets have fruit & veg at much better prices.
  18. I agree with lots of the books already mentioned, some children's books i've enjoyed as an adult are: The Dark is Rising Sequence Susan Cooper Lola Rose Jacqueline Wilson, a children's book with the very adult theme of domestic violence.
  19. I would say The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins was my favourite as it's such a gripping story.
  20. Oatcakes & peanut butter
  21. Muesli & chopped apple
  22. I finished Jamaica Inn last night & made a start on The Crimson petal & the White.

  24. Less than a 100 pages to go in Jamaica Inn, i'd forgotten how good it is it's so long since i read it. I'm thinking that if i can finish it today i'll have a new book for the weekend.
