  1. Is the movie version the one with Shirley temple in it ? If so i loved the film but haven't read the book.
  2. The forum hasn't changed my taste in books but it has made me branch out & try different authors. I picked up a couple of Jasper Fforde books in York yesterday he's an author i don't think i would have tried if i hadn't read so many good things about him on here. I was hoping that when i joined the forum it would motivate me to reduce my TBR pile but it's had the opposite effect & my book mountain grows daily
  3. I read the Poisonwood Bible as well, i thought it was a good book though it took me a long time to get through it & i think it would have benefited from better editing as it did drag in parts.
  4. Hardly done any reading again i seem to be so busy, hopefully when the World Cup starts on Friday i'll be able to get down to my book as it'll be wall to wall football in our house.
  5. Roast vegetables & pasta.

I'm so glad i watched this series even though it's been a bit far fetched it's been extremely watchable & the last episode was the best of the lot. I've got to say Idris Elba is very hunky
  7. I've not read The Bone Garden but i'd second The House on the Strand as a good read.
  8. I'd add Jeffrey Archer to that list
  9. I've not managed to get much reading done the past couple of days but i picked up a couple of books in the charity shop on my way to toddler group this morning they are The Rendezvous by Daphne Du Maurier & I Capture the Castle Dodie Smith. I've earmarked Rendezvous for my next read as it's short stories so a bit of light reading after my Micheal Faber which is a bit of a door stopper.
  10. I have a copy of Mary Berry's Ultimate Cake Book & i make her traybakes quite a lot as they always turn out well. The recipes are practically foolproof, you just throw everything into a bowl & whizz it up on high speed & it's ready for the oven.
  11. Chickpea Stew with Quinoa, not one of the kids favourites but i let them pick out the veg they don't like.
  12. Perhaps there's a forum out there for people who hate people that think Twilight sucks
  13. I think it depends who the celebrity is, if it was written by say Stephen Fry i would be likely to pick it up & have a look but it if it was a popstar or someone like Katie Price i wouldn't be interested at all. The only book i can think of that i've read that was written by someone famous for things other than writing is Billy by Pamela Stephenson.
  14. 1. Sundried tomatoes 2. Houmous 3. Christmas cake 4. Portobello mushrooms 5. Sweet potatoes Not sure how long i'd survive on just those though
  15. Well as i said on my copy it's all lower case.
  16. I wrote the title & author without capitals as that is how it is written on the book.
  17. Roast chicken which i'm off to buy from the farmers market as soon as i get dressed
  18. We watched part one last night & really enjoyed it, i've never read any Pratchett so don't have anything to compare it too & so don't know how faithful they've been to the book but it certainly made good TV something that's getting rarer & rarer these days.
  19. if nobody speaks of remarkable things by jon mcgregor. I bought it because I loved the title & it's on my TBR pile along with many others .
  20. Barley risotto with squash & leeks.
  21. Ryvita with peanut butter i've got my munchie head on
  22. Good to hear i wasn't sure about The Outcast but for 99p i guess it doesn't matter, that's the beauty of charity shops
  23. Just watched it & it looks fantastic can't wait till it comes out over here
  24. Wow it sounds really good, i picked up a couple of Phillip Reeve's books at the charity shop today Mothstorm & here lies Arthur.
