    Hello!

Hey! Welcome to the Forum Schatzi I've just started Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice after reading the first four books in the Vampire Chronicles. Pandora is on my list I'd be interested to know how you found it Enjoy!
  2. Oooooh totally forgot to mention Richard Brautigan! His work is amazing! A lot of it is out of print now but you can still buy some of it on Amazon. I've read Dreaming of Babylon, Sombrero Fallout, Willard's Bowling Trophy and The Hawkline Monster. He was an alcoholic for most of his life and shot himself at the age of 49....such a sad story but you can tell just by reading his work, that he was a torn personality. Such a good writer
  3. I would recommend: Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman I've read these books and have since passed them around friends and family, male and female. Everyone has enjoyed them and we all like different types of fiction generally. Hope everything goes well with your reading group
  4. I've finished The Body Thief by Anne Rice and (surprise surprise) I absolutely loved it. So much so that I had to head into town to buy the next installment in preparation for finishing it. I've now started Memnoch the Devil and I'll try to take my time with this one It's about Heaven, Hell and the relationship between God and the Devil. Of course, the vampire Lestat is in the midst of things, mixing it up and getting himself into trouble. Can't wait!
  5. I'd never heard of fan-fiction until I joined the BCF. I went off in search of it and spent a few hours reading pretty bad stories, vowing never to return to it again......and I haven't. Unfortunately I never found the good stuff, but I agree with Ben. It can be a creative outlet for those who don't really know where to start.
  6. Chuck Palahniuk is one of my favourite authors and he's pretty 'messed up'. Haunted and Rant are my favourite books by him and Fight Club is also pretty amazing. If you want seriously messed up I'd recommend Danny by Chancery Stone. I've tried to read it about three times but have to put it down sharpish as it's just too much for my fragile soul to take. I think there's Danny Volume II and III too but I haven't managed to get that far.
  7. I'm the soul of a vampire, residing in the body of a human and it's not as much fun as I thought it'd be. Upside....I get to watch the sunrise. Downside....everything else
  8. I also stayed up until late'O'clock last night reading The Body Thief. It's such a great book and the more I read about Lestat, the more I love him. Hopefully I'll read a bit more today.
  9. I went with the wildcard in the end and hope they like it! Eeeek! Also bought a bookmark to make up the cost Everything is off in the post so I'm sorted. I don't know what's going on this year but I'm totally on the ball when it comes to Christmas shopping (wish it would spill over into the rest of my hectic life! )
  10. I'm so envious that you're reading them for the first time. I flew through them all in about 10 days and now wish that I had spread them out a little more. But yes.....Eric is so so so sweet! I love that the book is all about him (at least they're the only bits I remember ) You'll have to let us know how you find it.....I don't want to give anything away for you but I'm so desperate to gush right now! Enjoy!
  11. I join you in the penniless and stressed camp if you'd like some company! I've just finished a design project that I've been working on since 9 this morning so I have square eyes at the minute  It's this time of year isn't it. Deadlines, and Christmas and poverty oh my!

Keep your chin up mrs....there'll be snow on the ground soon! Something to look forward to :D! :friends0: xx

  12. This is my favourite of the series Nightwish! How far into it are you? You'll have to swoon with the rest of us in the Sookie Stackhouse thread
  13. Hey Giulia! Thanks for the friend add....I thought I already had you added! Hope you're grand! xx

  14. Welcome to the Forum!
  15. Welcome to the forum!
  16. Hope you enjoy it!
  17. Have fun!
  18. Without a doubt, my favourite book of the 2000's has to be Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk (2006)
  19. I really need to read these books......adding them to my TBR mountain as we speak. The movie was on tv not long ago and I loved that. I've been too scared to watch Silence of the Lambs but saw Red Dragon a few years ago (I think this is part of the series??) which was also amazing!
  20. I've seen it twice now. First with my BF and once with the girls. It went like this: BF - Sat through the entire film trying not to burst at the Jacob in the rain, half naked scenes. It was quite a conservative outing. Had pick-n-mix. Enjoyed the movie. Girls - I whisper-laughed all the way through! Mainly at and the girls whooping at Charlie (!!). Giggled like a 5 year old at the Jacob in the rain, half naked scenes. One of my friends almost choked to death on her popcorn when Edward first appeared (you couldn't write this stuff!). We decided the we were all Team Jacob and Team Edward which made us Team Jedward (???) We then went into town for a few drinks and complained at the lack of Jacob/Edward look-a-likes. A great night! Overall I like the movie
  21. That's such a good idea Kell. I also really like your family bar to tell us how old Xander is......it's lovely. I like BookJumper's sig as it's her own work and she's a fantastic writer. I also like Sarapepperkaka's sig : "Sometimes I just survive. But sometimes, I stand on the rooftop of my existence, arms stretched out, begging for more. (Markus Zusak)"
  22. I love One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.....the ending truely shocked me as I wasn't expecting it at all! Have you seen the movie with Jack Nicholson? He plays the role brilliantly I'd be interested to find out what you think of Angel Time....hopefully it's as good as her previous work
