  1. Wow you have read a lot of Slaughter! She must be good I haven't read anything at all by her but I think my Mother has a book or two. I might have to rob her shelves the next time I visit her Hope you're well mrs xx
  2. I'm crying inside! These are two of my favourite books of all time. With regards to Rant, I love how it's so twisted and just when you think you understand where Palahniuk is taking you, the direction totally changes and you're left gobsmacked. He's managed to do this to me with every book of his that I've ever read....the man's a genuis! With regards to Wuthering Heights...........??????!!!!!!!!! I don't think I have the words! Without a doubt my favourite love story of all time. Heathcliff's pain and desperation at the death of his soulmate is haunting and touching and yet it shouldn't be as they're both awful, distructive people. Ahhhhh......I love it Maybe I could tempt you with a re-read?? I'm sure I've mentioned this already somewhere in this thread but I think the warning needs to go out again (I feel awful slating someones work as I'm sure this book was the authors pride and joy!) The Birthing House by Christopher Ransom is terrible. It has the potential to be such a good story but he ruins it with crude sex scenes which I'd imagine girls everywhere will simply cringe at. (I'm cringing now!) A few people I know have read it and we all agree that it's bad.
  3. I'm sure I've seen that documentary listed on 4OD!! All this talk of waffles is making me want to delve into the depths of my freezer where I know there's a box lurking.....oooooh waffles and beans!
  4. After this book (Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice) I'll have read around 48 books this year. I think that's probably the most I've ever read in one year which is probably (or should I say definitely) down to the BCF. I've discovered a few authors which I'd never have discovered if it hadn't have been for you lovely people
  5. I feel so bad for the Vampire Eddie He seems pretty harmless for a man with fangs. Bless him!
  6. Oh that episode is a good one! I don't like Amy either but really like the lilac dress she wears in one of the later episodes (I think they're having a picnic??) It's very nice, but I'm not fussed on her. I love Jason in Series 2.....he's so funny bless him
  7. Which episode was it? I didn't watch it
  8. Lestat here. You know who I am? Then Skip the next few paragraphs. For those whom I have not met before, I want this to be love at first sight. Anne Rice - Memnoch The Devil. I'm currently reading this book and it really struck me
  9. You are definitely a pretty book connoisseur Thanks again!
  10. My Planning Theory lecturer looks like Chris Cringle from this movie. The subject is really dull, but how can you begin to dislike Santa Claus!?
  11. Ooooh ooooh ooooh ooooh! I think I'm in desperate need of it It's so pretty! Thanks Giulia Now to find a way of making it mine with little expense to me.................... (*off to form an evil plan.........*)
  12. It's amazing isn't it! The idea of the story . I borrowed the books from a man at work who kept telling me I should read Richard Brautigan. I really must invest in copies of these books for myself
  13. Ooooh this is hard....I have two? Can I cheat a little and give two answers without people throwing things at me??? I'll take my chances! The first is The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice. After reading Interview With The Vampire I was expecting The Vampire Lestat to be along the same lines but it was so different. It delves into the history of the vampire, tracing thousands of years of evolution and was really hard to get into. I almost put it down more than once but I'm so glad I didn't as it was so rewarding. My favourite book of the year without a doubt. The second book is Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. This book totally blew me away and I didn't know what to make of it after I read it. It took a few weeks for me to decide that I actually loved it! That's never happened before
  14. God bless the power of television....amen!

  18. Hey Sheeta! Welcome to the forum by the way Have you read The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks?
  19. That's so cool! Also, just off the top off your head (I know you're a fan of leatherbound and generally pretty books), do you know if Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles are available in a nice, hardback, pretty, possibly leatherbound version? I haven't gone looking around the internet yet but thought you might have seen them on your travels (if indeed they do exist) I really enjoyed Living Dead in Dallas and Club Dead. How are you finding them? As for myself, I've read a few more pages of Memnoch The Devil and so far so good.
