  1. Thank you to Chimera for lending this out on a book ring. The Camel Bookmobile by Masha Hamilton is a very good book about Fi, an American woman who moves to Kenya to help run the Camel Bookmobile, which brings donated library books to the distant tribes of Kenyans. I found the book very easy to read & liked that it was written from so many different people's perspectives & it definately made me question how I feel about the real Camel Bookmobile!
  2. The Camel Bookmobile came to me via a book ring courtesy of Chimera & to her, I say Thank You! I really enjoyed it - & it made me question how I felt about the real Camel Bookmobile.
  3. I finished reading Star Gazing by Linda Gillard a fair while ago (June 8th, to be exact) & it was a fantastic book! I had previously read one of Linda's other books & this one was even better! An excellent read & I am so glad that I chose it for my England read.
  4. Hello Eliza! Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy it here.
  5. Excellent review Charm & yes, I would agree with you that Mr. Deaver is a tad formulaic, but luckily it works! I think the formula bit is why I made sure I didn't read anymore Lincoln Rhyme books one right after the other, once I had discerned the formula. Luckily, knowing that there is a formula to his books doesn't make them any less readable & definately doesn't make them any easier to suss!
  6. You know, up until I read that last sentence I was sitting here thinking "I wonder what that is she's reading? It sounds really good, I wonder who the author is?"
  7. Hello! Just wanted to congratulate you again! Well done & Congratulations!:yahoo:<-- (that's what he/she's shouting!)

  8. I'm an ex-military policeman who is now a wanderer travelling around the US. Currently I am in NYC where I have just witnessed a woman commit suicide.
  9. Thanks Charm! Enjoy your rest the soak!! (I know exactly what you means about old bones!)

Secretly I am hoping that they tell me they don't need me, but at the same time, we need the money. What would be ideal would be if they tell me that they aren't sure that was going to happen, then the hotel in Wales tells me yes, so that I don't have to worry about being unemployed. Although, if we are careful, with my pay at the end of this month, we have enough money to get us through to the end of August without having to touch our savings.

    Definately cya later!

  10. Things aren't too bad. I have a job interview on Monday in Llanberis, Wales & I am keeping everything that's possible to cross, crossed! Nige is really hopefull, but quietly so just in case we get let down again. This job is just about done & I will be very surprised if they keep me until the middle of July. We shall see!

Sounds like things are shaping up nicely at your house! What in the bedroom is he tiling? The floor?

  11. Yeah I think I would have been going crazy if I was in a plaster cast! It's quite sore, but I'm sure there are worse pains! He's told me I only have to keep it on for about a month or so, but I forsee me ditching it much sooner than that!

    So, what's up with you?

  12. Stravinsky was a brilliant composer, conductor & pianist! Listen to ! Edit: Oh yeah & the logo's lovely!
  13. I loved Studio 60! It was a brilliant show & it's a shame that NBC cancelled it - especially as they didn't really give it a fair chance at succeeding by moving it around the time/date slots.
  14. Me too! Now, get your butt over there & join the club!
  15. Thanks Inver! Somewhat feel like my pride was hurt worse, though! To be fair, I'm pretty sore all over - falling on tiles, banging your head off a wall & mashing up your wrist isn't really something I would recommend! The oddest thing was that a couple times through the night I had a nightmare about the fall, that I ended up with a double compound fracture of my arm & I bled to death! How horrible is that?!? lol!

    How are you?

  16. I've never read it. You'll have to let us know. Maybe the Mods should merge this thread with the Jeffery Deaver one, since we have done a lot of talking about Non-Rhyme books on here. Maybe I'll suggest it to them?
  17. Nope, I don't have very many friends, unfortunately, it's a direct result of having moved around so much for so many years. I was only teasing about the getting together to see the movie - I know that I will just have to wait until it comes out on dvd as my OH won't go see it with me. He hates chick flicks.
  18. Good cause there is just nothing like a nice bbq to keep the summer going!

  19. I certainly think so! How was your weekend? Did you get your gas bottle re-filled yet so you can have some bbqs?

  20. Awww, maybe we should see if there are a bunch of us who want to go & we could meet half way.
  21. It's Wales' one & only Steve Jones of T4 fame.

  22. Is it from a movie? Kinda funny we both changed our avies to hot half naked men!

  23. I'm good, thanks. Boring weekend in the hotel by myself...The "He" in question is Steve Jones, the Welsh tv presenter on T4. He is hot hot hot, isn't he?

  24. Hey Mrs, how are you? Loving the new avatar!
