  1. Hello & Welcome to the Forum!
  2. Hi & Welcome!
  3. Hi phoenix! Welcome to the forum!
  4. Hi & Welcome!
  5. "The sun was only half as hot as he had known sun to be, but it was hot enough to keep him confused and dizzy." Lee Child - Nothing to Lose
  6. Hi Riley, welcome from another newbie!
  7. Without a doubt the scariest book I've ever read is The Broken Window, by Jeffery Deaver. Very scary because it is so possible in this information technology reliant world we live in.
  8. We had steamed cod, baby new potatoes & fresh peas (which my OH insisted on covering in salad cream - yuck!)
  9. For me, it's Rebus (Ian Rankin), but I also love Tempe Brennan (Kathy Reichs), Alex Delaware & Milo (Jonathan Kellerman), Alexandra Cooper & Mike & Mercer (Linda Fairstein) & Linclon Rhyme & Amelia (Jeffery Deaver)
  10. I found Kathy Reichs when I was living in Ireland & feeling incredibly homesick. I wandered into a book store looking for some comfort & lo & behold found a Thriller (my fave kind of book) wich was set in my neck of the woods (so to speak). I grew up in a little town about 7 hours from Montreal, which by Canadian standards is only a hop-skip-&-a-jump away. It was just what I needed - the perfect comfort read! I devoured that book (Deja Dead), then went back for the next in the series. I now wait in anticipation of her new books every time I finish the last (except for Cross Bones - not a great book, but luckily she went back to what she does best). I was in Tesco the other day & discovered that there's a new one out.............can't wait til payday!!!
  11. I've read every Lee Child novel going. I love Jack Reacher, but I do wonder how much longer he can write these books without them all becoming a re-hash of previous books. His last one, Nothing to Lose, was a great one & the "mystery" in the book was completely unexpected!
  12. Thanks for the welcome everyone! Poppy, Ceinwenn's not my realy name, though I do love it. It's the name of one of the characters in the Arthur series of books by Bernard Cornwell. My other half is Welsh & I read that particular series of books (initially) to please him but ended up loving them & that character in particular. Echo - glad to see some fellow North Americans on here!
  13. Hi all, I've been looking for a book forum here in the UK - all the ones I've seen until now were in the US (not that that is necessarily a bad thing, but I live in the UK). I'm a voracious reader I I love talking about the books I've read. Even though I've lived here almost 8 years I still don't really know may people (long story) & definately don't know anyone other than my other half who reads as much as I do (unfortunately we have very differing tastes in reading, lol). Anyway, I'm glad to have found this place & I'm looking forward to reading about & discussing a lot of different books!
