  4. Hi! Did you get the msn message I sent you? You were logged in, but by the time I got it typed you'd logged out!

  6. Very funny Linda! Look forward to (hopefully) hear about your acceptance speach (& what you wore)!
  7. "Palden Lhamo - or at least her statue from the Jokang Temple - will be carried by monks to the banks of the Lhasa River," Penpa explains. "Thousands of people will have gathered there. On the opposite bank will be a statue of her lover, carried by monks from another temple." - A Year in Tibet by Sun Shuyun
  8. Tibet has always called to me ~ A Year in Tibet by Sun Shuyun
  9. I only own 1 bookmark, but I use it constantly. Never turn down the corners - that's damaging & disrespecting the book & what did the book ever do to deserve that?
  10. I have way too much going on in my life to waste my time on a book that I am not enjoying. I tried soooooooo hard recently to make myself finish reading The Book Thief as everyone I know who have read it loved it. It dragged on for ages & I dreaded picking it up because I just wasn't enjoying it. Finally I just stopped picking it up & I am so glad that I did. Life's too short to force yourself to read something that is a drudgery. Reading should be a pleasure, not a chore!
  11. I'm making a very large cottage pie, so that there will be plenty of leftovers for OH
  12. Hello Naomi! Welcome to the forum!

  15. I'm a Chinese female Documentary maker who is making a documentary following the every day lives of Tibetians. I am following them for a year, filiming all of their customs, or at least the ones that they will allow me to.
  16. Hello my dear! Sorry to be the bearer of some bad news, but I have yet to mail the book. My idiot employer (the old one) conveniently "forgot" to pay me, so I couldn't afford to mail it last weekend. I got my cheque in the post today, so will get it mailed off to you tomorrow.

    Sorry!

  17. Wow! Congratulations Linda! That's fantastic news. Who decides who the winner is?
  18. I have walked out of a couple, most recently Memoires of a Geisha & I asked for (& got) my money back!
  19. No, Beth, it's actually Too Close to Home by Linwood Barclay. It's really good! What's yours? It sounds familiar.
  20. I am a man who owns his own gardening company in upstate New York. My teenage son has just inadvertantly "witnessed" the murder of our closest neighbours & now my whole world is falling to pieces.
  21. Hi! You are very welcome! I wasn't going to tell you that I had bought it, I was just going to pop it into the post, but when you posted that comment, I just couldn't resist telling you. I couldn't believe my luck & I swear, I must have stood there for about 20 minutes trying to decide what to do! I picked them up & put them back, then picked them up again, then went & found some other stuff, then went back & stood in front of the books again trying to decide whether you would want me to buy Dorian Gray for you or not. 23. It's not just your point of view, Michelle! Part of the reason I am not on here as much as I previously was is because of Twilight & they way it has taken over this forum.
