  1. That made me wonder about what short stories I might be missing and I found the following thread: Short Stories
  2. Yes I can quite imagine Spooky's nose was a little put out! Best of friends now are they? Or do they just tolerate each other?

  3. I've got Basil and Thyme in pots and I've grown strawberries and tomatoes too! It's been fun at times although watering is a must!
  4. Thanks Kookie - I'm actually making a cross sittch of this picture at the moment, but it's very slow going!!

I've just been checking out Spooky and Piper - they look gorgeous. I can't wait to own a dog again, although I don't know what my cat would think to that.

  5. I just don't think that they look as good generally.
  6. I'm with both of you - don't think I got through the first page!
  7. Hehe! I wonder about this too, but I don't think I can classify myself as being in those moods very often. Yes I read the 7th in the Myron Bolitar, 'Darkest Fear' book and that got me hooked and I then read the first couple of the Myron Bolitar series and I've quite got into those although the Jessica and Myron thing tended to annoy me a bit! I've also read Tell No One and Just One look with almost all his others on my TBR. Join the dull club!
  8. I couldn't agree with this more. I'm certainly struggling with the reading this year. I've only read 9 this year so far and feel I haven't been connecting to books and characters as I was last year and even though I've really enjoyed some of the books there seems something missing. I've read a few of Lee Child's books and really used to get into them, but for some reason the last one I read, 'Die Trying' I found was not reeling me in and there was only one part of the book that really gripped my attention. I have a 3 left on my TBR pile, but I am a bit scared to jump in again. They are: One Shot Without Fail The Visitor Are these some of his better, worse, or pretty standard thrillers/adventures?
  9. I've just finished reading PS, I Love You and for me it was like eating maltesers, as in I find them very morish and have to finish the lot off as quickly as possible, but then feel regret afterwards and wonder I why I did that! I did find it readable, but I'll not be in a rush to read another of hers.
  10. I've read 23 and the 11 in red I intend to read at some point. I've started some of the others but have never finished them. 1 Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen 2 The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien 3 Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte 4 Harry Potter series - JK Rowling 5 To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee 6 The Bible - 7 Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte 8 1984 - George Orwell 9 His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman 10 Great Expectations - Charles Dickens 11 Little Women - Louisa M Alcott 12 Tess of the D
  11. I will read a book under 100 pages and can enjoy it however I don't think I'd like to pay
  12. Oh you are all good and dedicated - well done all of you! I do at least start neatly by using a single piece of thread and then fold in 2 leaving a loop at the end, I then thread the 2 loose ends through the needle and start the first stitch and then do the first diaganol stitch and when the needle goes through the back I put the needle through the loop of the thread and I find this works well.
  13. She is 15 (year 10) and really struggles with some of the work, unfortunately she does tend to stress easily and put an awful lot of pressure on herself, which as you say all makes it worse. She is not taking any exams as yet, but is taking a science exam in June. She is however highly artistic, but she knows to progress in this field she will need good results in the academic subjects too. She's always struggled at Math & English and she can't understand how so many of her friends find the subjects pretty easy.

  14. I have to say I really enjoy the Myron series too, but can't read one after the other!
  15. Good luck with the exams Ben! I wish my daughter felt as confident as you!

  16. I've just finished reading this one. I'd say it's worth reading - a sad tale, but well told; I wouldn't say I loved it, but it was a good read. I found it in the charity shop for a pound and it was a lovely hardback copy.
  17. :sign0072:

Hope you had a lovely day!

  18. Do you all make the back of your cross stitch projects look almost as good as the finished side? I have to confess my backs are not the prettiest! I'm too impatient to fiddle too much.
  19. Fish 'n' chips this evening.
  20. Thanks Ben! You're welcome! That's a lovely bookmark - if you can get it for
  21. I know what you mean about having the patience and seeing progress. In the past I have started and stopped so many projects (although I have finished a few too!) I am however determined to finish this one of the cat. It's slow going, but my progress so far:
  22. Hi there - Had a good day yesterday and looking at a good day today. The sun is shining and it looks lovely outside! :D

Are you keeping well? Hope you have fun at the book signing! :)

  23. This site may be useful for making cross stitches out of your own pictures: http://www.picturecraftwork.com You can only download small ones for free though. I know there are quite a few bits of software that can be downloaded for this as well.
  24. Hello - Sorry for not responding I must have gone to bed before seeing your hello!

  25. I won't be getting one any time soon either! Just can't justify spending that amount of money on a gadget at the moment and I probably wouldn't use it that much as I love real books. I still WANT one though!
