  1. I've just borrowed Sputnik Sweetheart from the library and have just finished reading it. I was curious to know what I was missing. I really did enjoy the style of writing and found myself completely immersed and found the part with the ferris wheel to be very strange. I certainly would like to read more and I do fancy Norwegian Wood and South of the Border, West of the Sun.
  2. I've decided if I did get one of these it would probably just be for the novelty factor of playing with a new gadget, but I really don't think I could ever read much on one as I just love the look and feel of paper books. However if anyone has one they're fed up with they can pass it to me for review!
  3. I would love to dream about the books I read - in fact I'd love to have dreams that I remember - it's rare that I wake up and remember a dream. I think I've remembered about 2 in the last 6 months and I can't even remeber what they are now - but they've probably been something pretty mundane! My son says he doesn't have dreams at all, but he is a deep sleeper and I suppose he therefore just does not remember them. If my daughter has dreams it's usually nightmares! Maybe we've got some kind of disfunctioning genetic dream make-up!
  4. It wouldn't necessarily have to be chick lit, but I wouldn't mind a reading room (with chairs) that looked like this: My ideal spring/autumn reading room I might need a little more back support on the chairs though. For the winter evening I wouldn't mind this one: Winter reading room I might choose a different chair in this one
  5. I'm in agreement with you all and would be surprised if anyone disagreed. Maybe they knew that it would cause uproar and just wanted a reaction.
  6. Wow! He is beautiful. I've just been checking out some more pictures of the breed. They look such happy dogs. So fluffy too! I suppose they'll need lots of grooming but I bet it's well worth it.

  7. Your dog is soooo cute! Is he a particular breed?

  8. Very odd about the map thing, I suppose it may be a different part of the brain that reads maps - I suppose a map is more pictorial that written. I believe that pictures are dealt with by the right side of the brain. Maybe the left side is more involved with the nausea! Ignore me I'm just waffling! I suppose when you are in the back of the car you are looking out of the side windows more and I believe looking to the front is the way to go to prevent nausea.
  9. I agree they were great; Saucepan man and Moonface were fun. I always had dreams when I was a youngster of going to different lands at the top of the tree.
  10. Hello Joe!
  11. Thanks pipread - I'll keep it on my wish list for now and will probably pick up a charity shop copy when I see one.
  12. I've been meaning to get No Time For Goodbye for some time - I haven't read your review above as sometimes I prefer to read the books before checking out the reviews, but I most certainly see that you've only rated it 5/10 - I can now see this sliding down my wishlist if not off it.
  13. :006:Speak later!

  14. Well I finished Gutted and will be putting up a review for this soon. I'm just about half way through Tomato Girl by Jane Pupek. I will be writing a review for this one when I've finished it too! I'm also listening to The Broken Window by Jeffrey Deaver. It seems to work exceedingly well as an audiobook. I haven't read the Sleeping Doll by Jeffrey Deaver yet, but this should be arriving in the post shortly.

    Non Fiction

I read non fiction sometimes (5 last year) and the latest read was Miracle in the Andes by Nando Parrado about a group of Rugby players that were trapped in the Andes after a plane crash. It was a well written and gripping Account.
  16. :woohoo:100th post Kookie!!
  17. I used to play on left wing when I played Hockey - I wasn't that good but was well chuffed to be picked for the school team just once and on that occassion I scored a goal - I was chuffed to bits!! I guess you help stop lots of goals.

  18. Me too! I'm dead jealous of those that can. I find even just reading a text message makes me queasy although strangely map reading does not seem to be a problem, but at least when I'm on my own driving I'll listen to an audiobook.
  19. One more post on the forum and you'll hit 100! :)

  20. She's been running for the athletics club since she was 9 and she's 15 now so she's built up to running that far. What position do you play in hockey?

  21. I've just managed an hours worth of reading whilst waiting for my daughter to finish a 6-7 mile run. Certainly getting into the Tomato Girl now!
  22. No me neither - she's super fit! I do jog a little bit, but I'm certainly not in her class!

  23. Hiya - I've just taken my daughter out to the local athletics club run and she went on a 6-7 mile run whilst I spent a luxury hour reading The Tomato Girl whilst waiting for her return. I then tranported her to a friends where she's staying the night and now I'm looking forward to the rest of the evening before I return to work tomorrow. Have you been up to anything exciting?

  24. She is a brindle, very similar to the cat at this link:
