  1. Most definitely: Julian Smith - Saxophonist
  2. Yes I agree! I haven't read a really scary ghost story for a very long time. I would imagine they're difficult to write.
  3. Yes "intersting" is definitely the word for it. I was surprised how much the flavour of the orange penetrated the flavour of the beef. Not sure if it was yummy or not! Tonight will be a home made beef broth and freshly made bread.
  4. Thanks for that and now you've reminded me I have already read Four Past Midnight, but can't remeber The Langoliers - I shall have to refresh my memory. (Looked it up on wikipaedia and it's still not ringing bells! ) I did find The Long Walk a good read and may have to reread that when I get a chance. I'm sure I have both the other books boxed up in the attic, but don't believe I've read either. Next time I'm up there I'll hunt them out.
  5. I love a beautiful, creative and inventive mind. What happens in the brain interests me much more than the outside of a person - well most of the time - So I don't think I'd be put off by any author's appearance and yet I could be put off by their attitude.
  6. Yeah The Works can be good - I bought 3 books from the Sheffield branch last time I was there. I got them all for
  7. Gosh that's brave of you! I'm not sure I could do that.
  8. Love the hair - it really suits you!

  9. I tend to read reviews at Librarything and Amazon.
  10. I've added Darkly Dreaming Dexter to my TBR pile. Looking forward to trying it out in the not too distant future.
  11. I've read the Richard Bachman Short stories many years ago, but can't recall any others. Which would you recommend?
  12. That's so cute frankie!
  13. Thank you both. I will give them the benefit of the doubt next time and try them out. It'll be worth it if they're cheaper plus getting the points too!
  14. Hi Wiggywoo and welcome I work part time, but also have 2 children, although my daughter is 15 going on 30. So maybe I've only one child left now! Hope you enjoy it here.
  15. How have you found Watestone's online service? Has their dispatch been quick? I was going to use them the other day as they were cheaper than Amazon, but then I read a few bad reviews about them showing as if books are in stock, but then they don't turn up for weeks.
  16.

There's a sample playable at audible - if that helps.

  17. Hi Inver

It's narrated by Samantha Bond and Gareth Armstrong. (I'm afraid I don't know either of them)

  18. I don't know if these are the best book stores but they're certainly good for the
  19. I have it on audiobook to listen to, so even though I'm tempted I'll decline this time, but thanks for doing this - it's very kind!
  20. I often start by feeling the quality of the paper, not that it'll stop me from buying what looks to be a good book.
  21. Beef and Orange casserole this evening.
  22. I forgot about these, but I most certainly did read some of them. I seem to recall Mystery of the Tally-Ho Cottage and Mystery of the Disappearing Cat. I can't really remember the storylines, just the characters.
  23. Oh this does sound like fun to try - just need some chocolate in the house - it doesn't last long in the cupboard!
  24. I've just read this book this afternoon and found it utterly delightful. I thought it was really moving and touching and we could really do with more members of society with the understanding that Father McKenzie shows people.
  25. Sorry to hear your news Kylie. Look after yourself as best you can. :friends0:
