  1. Welcome back! Sounds like you had a super holiday! It sounds like just the sort of holiday I would appreciate. Oh and I hope the heating isn't having to go on for too long. I'm not quite as far north as you and I've found I've had to put a jumper on too many times in July!

  2. 184 now - I'm determined this is not to go over 200 - That would be ridiculous, especially with my reading rate at the moment - it will probably take 5 years to get through these.
  3. I'm doing something like this aswell. I'm very lacking on places to put bookcases and so as I have a lot of storage in the bedroom I'm tending to use the cupboards with shelves and I do tend to sort through them and put the read books to the back and then I've been trying to sort them alphabetically by author after that. I just love handling the books as most are either new or like new - I'm not someone who appreciates a tattered copy that's been well read and loved; I just like for them to remain looking new! I suppose with them not being in the light they're also not prone to fading.
  4. These all arrived yesterday! ME = :woohoo:I would have added more but I'm only allowed 6. Maybe that's a good thing!
  5. I'll be interested to hear what you think of these. I've had them on my bookshelf for a very long time and have not got around to reading them yet.
  6. Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. I'm a fan too, but this book I gave 1 out of 5 and I'm not sure if that was a little generous.
  7. Hello!
  8. Your bedded hair, like life in excrements, start up and stand on end. Charming!
  9. Hmmm! Maybe that's why I disliked The Taking so much.
  10. Well I have certainly managed to add a few more to the TBR mountain since last updating this and that includes No Time for Goodbye. I did start reading it the day I got it as I was miles from home waiting around and I had time on my hands and went into a Discount Bookshop and found it. I have however put it back on my TBR pile, but the little I read I did enjoy and it has me intrigued. It's handy to find bookshops whilst waiting for other people. I also found Stuart: A Life backwards that way and also started reading that. Will definitely need to get back to these soon and I'll probably start them both from the beginning again. I'm reading Sandra Brown's Chill Factor at the moment: it's quite a gripping thriller and I don't think it'll be long before it's devoured.
  11. Fine here thanks! :) - Oh lucky you - 6 glorious weeks off! I hope you get your enthusiasm back :readingtwo:- I've been on a roll this month and have been eating books, but for the rest of this year I haven't been in true reading mode - it can be so annoying when you either can't concentrate, or just can't get into a book - I know, with me, it's usually because I have other issues on my mind! Will catch you later. Happy hols! :D

  12. I've been in an accident and knocked over a chap in my car, fortunately didn't hurt him too bad and we're now holed up in a cabin because of sleet and freezing rain. Not sure how long before we will be rescued. He seems such a nice chap!
  13. Hi pipread

I will be startting the third Dexter book shortly - I thought I'd have a little break and then come back to him. Thoroughly enjoyed the second book though!

    Are you keeping well? :)

  14. Now I've reread what I wrote I don't think I was clear: what I was meaning was that I wondered what I was missing by not reading Murakami when everyone else seemed to be. I think I was expecting it not have a beginning, middle and end as in the conventional sense because of the posts I'd read previously. I've still not gotten round to reading more as I just have too much to get through at the moment!
  15. I like the look of that book cave. The following website looks interesting: Original Books Not sure about this though! You'd probably want to read them! http://www.originalbooks.net/acatalog/paperbackfauxbooks.html
  16. Well I'm back again. Sorry that you're still bored. Will your friends be back from holiday soon? How long are you off from school? I have just collected Emma and she has just advised me she's off for 7 weeks and even though she'll be working for some of it she is not looking forward to it! We're not off anywhere this year and so that won't break it up either.

  17. Today I've been to work, then dropped my daughter off at work and I'm just about to phone my mum and then I've got to pick my daughter up and then hopefully if I'm not online I'll get a little reading done.

  18. I see you're reading the Twilight series. I've not picked up any of those yet. I'm reading a Charlaine Harris novel at the moment - I've only just started it but it looks like it's going to be good.

  19. Then you'll be a smart Kookie!

  20. I've turned into my mum too! I think it happens to all of us at some point!

  21. Sorry to hear you're bored - it seems a shame the holiday could be broken down into 2 smaller holidays in some ways. I always used to look forward to all that time off, but found it quickly became boring! I'm most definitley busy at times, but it suits me! :)

  22. Lots of reading, working, travelling to athletics competitions and doing the odd bit of jogging. Generally life is very busy, but that's good!

Are you looking forward to your holidays? Lots to do?

  23. And I managed to walk past Waterstones today without even going in!
  24. Hi Kookie - yup it's been a while. How are you? :)

  25. I've borrowed Not in the Flesh (Wexford 21) from the library and just started it this morning and I am half way through. This one certainly doesn't seem to bad and is certainly not putting me off, but I have to say I prefered Macbeth.
