  1. What a shame they wont email as I have quite a few here - I don't think science has quite reached that technology yet! Hope you get one soon!
  2. That's a shame - they used to give them free with the kits many years ago. Was the magazine for the world of cross stitching here? I have just taken out a subscription (see here) and should be getting 2 free Cross Stitches - both with cats and so I'm happy! I'm looking forward to doing that Winnie the Pooh sometime!
  3. I didn't enjoy this one that much either although I did manage to reach the end. I didn't enjoy Once either, but yet again plodded through to the end. I suppose the last 2 books of his that I remember enjoying were Haunted and The Ghosts of Sleath.
  4. That looks a really nice bookmark Kell. You're right about it being relaxing and it's odd that lots of people have been mentioning cross stitch on the forum of late as it's something I have recently decided to take up again. I've started on a Louis Wain picture of a cat - I really like his pictures!
  5. I met him about 15 years ago at a book signing in Norwich and he signed a copy of the Discworld Companion for me.
  6. No trouble at all! I'm sure your bedrooms will look great when done, now I think of it my daughter has a part red room too! I've always liked red to wear as well - of course it has to be the right shade too! And thank you with regard to the living room- I think the OH has done a great job with that & daughter's room too! My son's is green, but he's starting to want a change to chocolate and cream.

  7. Well it may well be the one I read after the one I'm reading now and one other - I'm sure there's a shorter way of writing that!

Thank you for the comments on my profile. :D

I think Red rooms, if done in the right shade can look lovely - but I would say that as we have a gold and red living room and I think it looks gorgeous!!!

I think the red in the following link looks really good! Maybe you can convince him yet!

  8. I'll try not to put it too far down my TBR pile! :D

BTW I do like your profile page and colours! May have to give mine an overhaul at some point.

  9. This happens to me too and my daughter - it's certainly done at an unconscious level.
  10. Thank you anisia! I've nearly finished Being Emily and really have enjoyed that and I'll be on to the new novel by Tony Black next called Gutted which involves an ex journalist called Gus Dury. The first in the series Paying For It was fantastic and I'm hoping this will be just as good if not better.
  11. Thanks Gyre ! I do adore dogs - I think I may have mentioned that before! I certainly agree with the cute frankie. There's a whole load of stuff to download here including more bookmarks
  12. This one's a nice one! - If you like/love dogs that is.
  13. I can lose concentration when I'm listening to audiobooks and sometimes have to go back a bit when I realise, but overall I think they're great for those times when it's not suitable to have a book in your hand. I enjoy listening to them on the commute to and from work and when I'm preparing veg and also when I don't fancy tiring the eyes late at night.
  14. :006:Hi there and welcome.
  15. Thanks - I certainly hope so too!
  16. Yes that most definitely makes sense - Maybe I'll pretend it's a different author! I'm not sure when I'll get to it yet - too many books I want to read!! I've just added The Rosary Girls to my wishlist - Thank's Charm
  17. I don't feel that I give up on too many books as generally I seem to have been lucky enough to read books that I do actually enjoy. the last 2 that I remember giving up on are: Monster by Johnathan Kellerman - Just could gain any interest in this one! and Northern Lights by Nora Roberts - This was the first and last book of hers that I tried. I really hated reading the third of it that I did. I found that the characters really got on my nerves and I just couldn't persevere. it really did put me off trying anything else of hers. I don't believe I gave up on any last year!
  18. Touching the Void by Joe Simpson Black Beauty by Anna Sewell Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruis Zafon The Enchanted Wood series by Enid Blyton
  19. Oh this does sound good! - another for the wishlist!
  20. I have the first 2 of these on my TBR pile. I think I'll read the first after I finish what I am reading now and my next review book! Just wish I was reading more at the moment!
  21. Depends on my mood - I'm not actually a huge ice cream fan. I definitely do not like strawberry ice cream though! If I had to choose at the moment it would definitely be Mint Choc Chip
  22. I've this on my TBR pile: Tess Gerritsen - gravity. Is it a lot different from her other stuff? (From what you've read of it so far) All her Jane Risoli books I've thoroughly enjoyed!
  23. I guess I should join BAA!
  24. It wasn't such a long list until I joined BCF, Readitswapit and Librarything!
  25. From the Back Cover: Life isn't easy for Detective Inspector Bobby Maiden. Death is even harder. When Maiden is revived in hospital after dying in a hit and run incident, his memories are not the familiar ones of bright lights and angelic music, only of a cold, harsh place he has no wish to revisit...ever. But his experience means that Bobby Maiden may be the only person who can reach The Green Man, a serial murderer the police don't even know exists...a predator who returns to stone circles, burial mounds and ancient churches in the belief that he is defending Britain's sacred heritage. Meanwhile, New Age journalist Grayle Underhill arrives from New York to search for her sister who's become obsessed with the arcane mysteries of the Stone Age. The bloody trail leads to a remote village on the Welsh Border...and to people who know there are more crimes in heaven and earth... It certainly has been slow reading for the first month of the year, however I thorough enjoyed The Cold Calling by Will Kingdom/Phil Rickman: a supernatural type read. I really enjoy the story line and getting acquainted with the characters and I also enjoy the style in which he writes. I will probably read a few books of his this year. 9/10
