I legally downloaded 'The Pearl Fishers' duet from iTunes (my first go as I had a card voucher for my birthday) and I can't put it on my Zen as its in the wrong format?? Any ideas anyone?
They have a website - you can do your own order and earn points towards free books although I suppose you don't pay postage if you order off someone's catalogue!
Chose to read 'Notes on a Scandal' by Zoe Heller - very readable and I enjoyed it. I haven't see the film but I would like to now. As I was reading I could visualise Judi Dench as Barbara and she was perfect for that role in my head
I am and always will be a knitter - it's back in vogue with lots of new interesting things to knit with - I even have a pattern for a knitted bag made out of supermarket plastic bags which I intend to have a go at at some point!! I can't resist wool shops and there is a knitting exhibition at Ally Pally which I go to every year - I come away loaded with new projects!!
I am a Kate Atkinson fan too - I have not read 'Emotionally Weird' although its on my TBR.
I have read 'Case Histories', 'Behind the Scenes at the Museum', and 'One Good Turn' - and they are all excellent. In fact she is now one of my favourite authors. Behind the Scenes is a good place to start .
I have John Diamond's autobiography on my TBR list - husband of Nigella Lawson who died of oral cancer. I saw a moving documentary about him many years ago so when I saw the book I bought it.
I am still reading last year's or the year before!! I will look at them though as I have to say they do select a good read (if it really is them that does it)
I rarely read a biography unless I admire that person. I thoroughly enjoyed John McEnroe's biography. He has a very dry wit. I also picked up and read Roger Black's (a hero) as it was 10p from the library. I could see why they were selling it off - it was dull, but I learned how much training and injury he went through.
Frank Skinner's was good and interesting, very conceited man though. The worst biography was Delia Smith - my cookery heroine - dull, dull and dull!!
SciFi, thrillers, horror, spy books, political books, fantasy, Danielle Steele rubbish, Geoffrey Archer books on principal, books with the kind of print or print layout I don't like. Not much left then?
Oops 'Notes on a Scandal' is my current book - liking it so far!!
I would rarely stop reading a book I have started but then I am v fussy about what I read. Those I have stopped reading are given away - the 'Undomestic Godess' by Sophie Kinsella was the last one to be ditched
