  1. Thick frost here too first thing, now it's cold and bright.
  2. Finally got some snow, only a brief smattering, nearly all gone. The local pond was frozen over and the birds were all standing on it looking a bit confused.
  3. Yes very sad, he had a wonderful voice, and the knack of stealing films from under the big star's nose! Prince of Thieves is one of my guilty pleasures, and he was so funny in Galaxy Quest. He'll be missed by all ages I think, especially from the Harry Potter films.
  4. Very cold here, might even get as bit of snow, I had to scrape and de-frost the windscreen this morning.
  5. Hi Vicky and welcome!
  6. Hi Sylvia and welcome, what a lovely part of the country to live in. I went to Dedham last summer and it was beautiful. Have you been to Lavenham? Hope you enjoy it on here!
  7. Hi Herb and welcome, I used to read the Hitchcock stories about 3 young guys who got involved in all sorts of spooky cases, a bit like the Nancy Drew books.
  8. Welcome, do you have any favourite authors or books?
  9. Really cold wind and rain here, may even get some snow too although I think it'll probably be more like sleet.
  10. Like you, I can only remember the music (which came back straightaway, and yes it's very distinctive and creepy) and something about planes, I don't remember anything about horses. Looked up the series on IMDB and it was filmed in Yorkshire, Skipton in fact.
  11. Oh yes Linda is a shamefully under-rated author. I first came across her on another book forum and we all started buying her books, at that time she was self-publishing but I think you can get most of her books through Amazon now, they're the only ones who seem to stock her more recent novels. Why oh why won't a publisher take her on?
  12. Colder today but dry and bright, much better than wet and windy.
  13. Yes a work colleague said exactly the same as you about Beowulf. Haven't watched it myself.
  14. Yep we were told not to put our alarm in the kitchen as it would go off all the time (especially the number of times I burn the toast!)
  15. Very sad news, a true original.
  16. That kingfisher pic is gorgeous, that's what you call dedication on the part of the photographer. I loved the snowy owl too.
  17. Yes it does sound like the battery needs replacing, but why does it always decide to start beeping in the early hours? Ours usually does it around 4.00 am! Just replaced it though when it ran out over Xmas.
  18. I agree with you about the rain poppyshake, it rained most of Saturday, fairly dry yesterday then started again sometime last night and rained most of the night, although it's stopped for now. The garden is like a bog and my car is taking in water, not sure where it's coming in, I assume it must be through the door somehow but will have to take it in, the carpet and mat are absolutely saturated.
  19. I think TWW is her most under-rated song. There's so much emotion in it, anyone who thinks she's just a bit of a hippy should listen to it.
  20. Yeah they never really knew what to do with it, and it didn't seem to be able to make up it's mind whether it wanted to be a comedy or a drama or a bit of both, I didn't dislike it but it was a bit of a mish-mash.
  21. We were given this book to read for A Level umpteen years ago, and then a few weeks into the new term it was cruelly whipped away from us and we were given Jane Austen instead, slight difference....at last I thought something different to read, but no, it wasn't to be. Probably one of the reasons I've never really warmed to Austen! However, I did read Frankenstein a few years later and thoroughly enjoyed it, it's very different to the Hollywood image that is so familiar and is worth reading, and is still very topical today. I also find it hard to believe that Mary was so young when she wrote it.
  22. No, I think the salsa was his best dance.
  23. That's a very good way of summing it up vodkafan!
