I'm about half way through Kiss Of Evil now and have just discovered it's the 2nd in a series.I really hate it when that happens :motz:As I'm actually enjoying it, I'm gonna go ahead and finish it and just hope it doesn't spoil the first book for me

That's so annoying when that happens!! But just go ahead and read it since you're enjoying it so much and try to not let that bother you.

:D That sounds like something I would do. I found a huge and wonderful secondhand bookstore last week, and while the books were alphabetised, I was itching to alphabetise them further so all books by each author would be together. If I win lotto, I'm going to buy that shop and spent many happy weeks doing just that. :

:D You would be a very valuable employee in secondhand bookshops! I was thinking maybe we should start a secondhand bookshop of our own? BookJumper and SueK included! You'd be managing the Aussie branch, I'd be responsible of the Fin branch and BJ and SueK could do Great-Britain. I'd love it

Frankie and Kylie, may I join the club? I've actually been known to re-shelve (by author, genre and special offer) volumes in high street bookshops - it's a scandal I'm not been asked to work for them on the spot, to be honest!

That's what I'm thinking as well! But apparently our humble efforts go unnoticed by the staff because they have work to do themselves. Once this other customer thought I was working in that secondhand bookshop, because I was rearranging the shelves so efficiently :D His comment made my day!

OMG I've done that too!! I've also re shelved in the library as I was browsing, I was getting funny looks from the librarians so I moved swiftly on.......

Yep library is another place where I do rearranging as well. Too bad you're getting those looks from the librarians, I bet they think you're just trying to hide some books for your own devious purposes, or maybe creating chaos just for fun. You'd think the librarians would know how to shelv their books but I've found so many books out of place you wouldn't believe it.

I read 40 pages of The Virgin in the Ice last night in bed, the plot was actually picking up a little which was nice. I'm definitely going to finish it today.

I was thinking the same thing! We could spend all day long rearranging books and hire staff to do any boring bits. And any time we're not 'playing', we could be chatting on BCF. :D Man, I really hope I win lotto soon.

Now working in a bookshop would be my idea of heaven. Don't know if the shelves would get sorted though, I'd be too busy reading the books.:D

Sounds like you are enjoying the Cadfael Books Frankie. Are you reading them in order? My favourite was always St Peter's Fair. They are all treasured and in pride of place on my bookshelf.

Don't worry darling, I can sort the shelves *giggles with maniacal glee*!

I did this SAME thing with his other series.. Read the 2nd one first. It was all ok in the end, so I bet you'll be just fine, too!

I remember you doing that! Nice to hear it was fine in the end. :D

Oh no, Charm! I hate it when that happens too . Listen to Bethany - you'll be fine .

Thanks guys. Well I've almost finished it now and there weren't really any references which left me confused, so it seems fine

Sorry, I feel bad now. I should have told you when I realised. But I doubt it will make too much of a difference. :D

Oh don't feel bad! :friends0:It's not you're fault, I should have checked before I started it, I usually do. I guess I was just too excited that my mojo wanted it! :D I'm really enjoying it.

I'm sure BookJumper, Kylie and me would take care of the sorting :D Then we'd have to get someone who'd actually want to take care of the business side of things. Know anyone? :D Do you think peacefield would be up for making up a little coffee shop on the side?

I'm not reading them in any order because The Virgin in the Ice is the first one I've ever come across with and I just had to get it, I thought the series might be the kind of thing which one wouldn't have to read in order. I've been enjoying it and not enjoying it, there have been some parts of the books which have been a bit boring and it has seemed that there's nothing happening except people wondering off and getting lost over and over again. A bit repetitive! But last night I got to the action bit and it was really exciting :D

Oh I really don't mind doing the sorting too - its just it may take some time as I would be reading and sorting together.

Btw BJ, a belated congrats on becoming a Mod. I hope you enjoy it. (I was one on another forum but it didn't last long because of all the spamming detection we had to do, it did my head in:irked:) but I'm sure you will enjoy the experience.

Exactly my experience of the books Frankie. The first one I read I couldn't quite get it but by the end of the book I was hooked and very quickly read all the chronicles. I don't think it matters how you read them, it's just they go in date and season order.

Started a collection of short stories by Roald Dahl today, the book is entitled Someone Like You and I have just read a few so far. They seem to be very good, well-written - of course - and will most likely be great to dip into when I get a spare few minutes, or read straight through because of the length of the stories in the book.

*bounces up and down happily* Just checked the site of the online shop I always order books at, if all goes according to plan the books I ordered dec 26th should be delivered today. It said "driver on it's way". Yess.

That'll be The Dragonriders of Pern, Anne MacCaffrey (first three books into one) and Laurell Hamilton's Swallowing Darkness.

:D

Okay edit: seriously, not fifteen minutes after posting this, my books were delivered. They're pretty, new books. Yay.

Was up till the early hours of this morning finishing off Heaven Can Wait - Cally Taylor. Think I might start French Kissing - Catherine Sanderson later. The bloody snow meant I couldn't get to the post depot to get my book that couldn't be delivered yesterday

I started reading on the first book of Anne MacCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series, was hard to decide which book to start first, but now I am about 30 pages into it, have to get used to the english in it again, not that difficult but it has some words I barely know. Good for my vocabulaire.

Going to get some major reading done tonight going to read a few chapters while the kids do their reading. We are also listening to a Doctor Who Audio Book read by DAVID TENNANT! I am not a big fan of audio books, but my word I am loving listening to this one

Read 78 more pages of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo this afternoon - I'm really enjoying it.

It is such a good book, one of my favs of 2009, the follow on book is even better!

I finally finished The Virgin in the Ice by Ellis Peters and am happy to announce that I enjoyed it a lot in the end. SueK will be pleased at least  That was my first read this year. I'm a bit torn about what to start next, partly because I'm still at BF's and have a limited selection. But I have good reads with me so I should be able to find something to suit my mood.

Just finished Murder Most Fab by Julian Clary, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and means I can now make a start on Men of the Otherworld by Kelley Armstrong next! Oops, I'm supposed to be reading Moral Disorder when I'm at home, and keep the paperbacks for lunch breaks at work, but unfortunately, the paperbacks are just too tempting

Only had time for a couple more pages of Under the Dome at the train station and on the train last night

I have finally finished The Big over easy and what a cracking (get it) read. I am a bit upset that it finished and now I am totally at a loss as to what to read next. I should really read Stolen by Kelley Armstrong as it is the next one to go back to the library, but I am worried I am just not going to like it much, like the first one.

****Edit*** I'm going to try and read Stolen.

Read four or five short stories today, about 100 pages in total, from Someone Like You. This collection of Roald Dahl's short stories are really starting to capture my attention now.

Yay! There's nothing sweeter than receiving brand new books in the mail. Makes me want to go and order more right now.

Oh, I want to read this so much! I went to buy it at half-price the other day but it turns out I need some coupon from a magazine. My Mum should already have that magazine so I'll get it from her and hopefully have the book soon!

I finished The Silver Chair in the wee hours of this morning so I can now concentrate fully on Fahrenheit 451. Only somehow Dead Until Dark has made it's way down to me and is sitting next to me begging to be read.
