lexiepiper Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Haha, I want the adult boxset! I was trying to bribe my boyfriend to buy them for me for my birthday in a few weeks, but he doesn't want to :( Quote
BookBee8 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Haha, aww, why?! I think the only reason my boyfriend agreed is because my birthday is in August . I've got so many books to get through though so I won't be able to read them until then anyway. Quote
lexiepiper Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Ahh, he HATES Harry Potter to the fiery pits of hell, and it kills him that I like it he says it's a "kid thing" and that adults who like them are silly, pfft, what does he know eh!? Quote
BookBee8 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Haha, oh dear! Has he read them? :exc:I am big kid though, so that might be why I love them so much. Quote
lexiepiper Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Yeah I'm a big kid too, and no he hates reading, so I tell him off, because he's never read them so he can't judge! But you know what they're like eh?! Always right! Quote
BookBee8 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Oh, definitley. That's what they think! Ha! Same again. My boyfriend can't do the whole reading thing. He tried to read Twilight. But he only read two chapters and has given up. I don't think he's ever read a book! Quote
Andaira Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I haven't been able to read all the books currently out save for the first book (they're in my growing-by-the-day TBR pile of course), but A Game of Thrones, by George R. R. Martin, from the A Song of Ice and Fire series, is, to this day, my favorite work in the fantasy genre. Quote
Heather Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I have read a few fantasy books by different authors and enjoyed them all but I have to say that my all time fave has to be Anne McCaffrey and the Pern series. Now her son Todd has started wring on his own. His first book Dragonsblood was brillient rhe same standrad as his mum as he wrote with her in 2 books about pern and this is his first book about Pern. Quote
sarah1979 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I like the Harry Potter collection, have the lotr to read but haven't attempted them yet! Quote
Kreader Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Hmmm, this is a hard one. I like Anne McCaffrey's Pern series, Trudi Canavan's Black Magician triology, Anne Bishop's Blood Jewels triology and Wen Spencer's Tinker. Quote
Ben Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Agreed with the Black Magician Trilogy, they were very very impressive! And I haven't even read the last one yet. *laughs* Quote
Heather Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Agreed with the Black Magician Trilogy, they were very very impressive! And I haven't even read the last one yet. *laughs* I've read her books both series and loved them, have all the Harry Potter books too and loved them. Quote
Andaira Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Anne Bishop's Blood Jewels triology I completely forgot to mention this one. I was hesitant to read it at first, but boy am I glad that I did. And of course now I also have to add The Black Dagger Brotherhood series, by J. R. Ward, since it's only fair . Quote
mister.g Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I can't believe no-one's mentioned Raymond Feist:- Raymond Feist - The Riftwar Saga Raymond Feist - The Serpentwar Saga Also the empire trilogy which was written with Janny Wurts. Quote
Owen Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle: Day One) is well written fantasy book by Patrick Rothfuss, well worth a read. I enjoyed the riftwar series as well, very entertaining. Quote

zino Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 zomg! cant believe no ones mentioned RA Salvatore and his masterpiece books. they're a little more complex but its still popular today being like 20 years old. i cant play an online game w/ out seeing a reference to one of his characters. Drizzt is simply Bad:censored:ss ! Quote
bonnie banks Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 The first two books in the Gormenghast trilogy are brilliant, not so keen on the third one though. I`m reading Fevre Dream, George RR Martin, at the moment while I`m waiting for the release of next Ice and Fire one. Quote
MDR124 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Has anyone ever read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke? One of my favourite piece of fantasy. Quote

The Crystal Shard was ok, but the rest just keep getting worse. Quote
