  1. Well its nearly Christmas so i am readig the Chrstmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Im enjoying it so far as i love the story anyway. Has anyone else read it?
  2. Had a bit of a reading spree, the Other side of the Story was really good, the size of the book put me off but got into it so easily. Has anyone else read it? Also the Accident by Danielle Steele i thought was a brilliant book, so emotional i had tears in my eyes. Has anyone read this book? On Prince Caspian now so hope i enjoy it!
  3. Just finished reading Sail by James Patterson. It didnt have very good reviews but i actually enjoyed it, it wasnt one of his best but it was still enjoyable and a very quick read. It reminded me of a sinister version of the film Castaway. Its quite different to his other stories and the writing in parts is not so good but its a bit of escapism.
  4. Just finished reading Black Cat by Virginia Andrews. I found it a good read if a little depressing. It is sad how the main character is so accepting instead of chalenging the situation. I would recomend this book as it does grip you but dont expect a happy ever after.
  5. I have recently read Cradle and All, it didnt get very good reviews but i really liked it. Trouble was i read it to fast! I havent tried Harlan Coben or Hemming Mankell, do they write crime thrillers to?

  6. I found Celeste to be really good, its very similar to Flowers in the Attic with the controlling mother. It did take me a couple of chapters to get into but once the story developed it was hard to put down. Throughout the book i was wishing for Celeste to stand up to her mother. I have just started Black Cat which is the second in the series so looking forward to what happens next!
  7. i see that you are reading the memory keepers daughter, i have that on my TBR list and just wondered what it was like? Its true having high expectations, they never live up and you do feel that you should love them to when they are recommended
  8. I liked the friendship that developed between Lyra and Will. The language and the settings were good, and i liked the adventure, i think the problem was a friend of mine loved the books and because i didnt enjoy them as much as i thought i was a bit disappointed. It was a clever plot though.
  9. Just finished reading Celeste by Virginia Andrews. Does anyone else like her stories and writing style?
  10. Well i have just completed the Dark Materials trilogy and for some reason i found myself struggling to finish it. I dont feel the story held my interest but i was dertermined not to give up on it as i hate not finishing a book! What are other people's thoughts on this trilogy?
  11. Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman- After putting it off for ages i finally got around to reading The Northern Lights. It was a good read, not as good as i expected but enjoyable all the same. Im reading The Subtle Knife now and feel im enjoying that more.
  12. I have just read Chase, not sure about this story i found it pretty slow compared to his other books. What did everyone else think of this book and i heard there is a sequel but what is it called?
  13. Just finished reading The Chase by Dean Koontz. It was an interesting enough read but felt i wasn't gripped by it was slightly slow in places. It ends very quickly but is clever in places. I don't think it compares to the James Herbert Crime books i have read i think i prefer Dean Koontz super natural material. It wasn't a terrible book and glad i have read it and only 212 pages long i can't complain!
  14. I haven't got the Eyre Affair but will buy it if i see it. Will let you know if i read it and what i think! :)I think its good to read a variety of different books and i think James Pattersons books are great! Chick lit i love for an easy light read!
  15. No i haven't read any other of Sophie's books but i do have Remember me which is on my TBR list and i have shopoholic ties the knot and the shopoholic and baby but again on my TBR list!
  16. Just finished Can You Keep a Secret by Sophie Kinsella and have to say it was brilliant! Really liked the characters and could relate to them and Emma the main character was so true to life and had me thinking thats what i would think! The character of Jack was well written and welcome. Didnt want the book to end. Although chick lit can be predictable, when it has a good story and is well written like this one is it can get away with it. A good, easy enjoyable read.
  17. Just finished reading Seven Sunny Days by Chris Manby. It took me a while to get into this book as it kept going back to individual lives but in the end it really works and i suppose it needed all of that eary on to get to really know the characters. Its not as happy a story as i anticipated but that is what gave the book more depth. I would recommend this story as it is a fun read and i was sorry i have finished it.
  18. Im still to read the Chronicle of Narnia. Think its time soon to start, i have so many books TBR that i never know what to read next! Do you have a favourite Narnia book?
  19. Just finished reading The Quickie by James Patterson and have to say that i loved it! It was fast paced full of twists and kept me guessing until the end. A very fast read and very enjoyable. Going to start reading seven Sunny DAYS BY Chris Manby next!
  20. Just finished Pride and Prejudice. I wanted to enjoy it and it wasn't that bad i just think it was rather slow. I think that after reading it after Jane Eyre and loving that so much the dialogue between the Mr Darcy and Elizabeth wasnt really there for me. It was still enjoyable and maybe it was me not being in the mood to read another heavy read.
  21. Just read Alice's adventures in Wonderland. Found it OK but its not the same when you are grown up. I thought it was clever the way it played with words but in some places i just wanted to get through the chapter! Its not one of my favourite children classics book but maybe it was the mood i was in when i read it! Has anyone else read it?
  22. Since finishing Jane Eyre i have ordered the BBc adaption of Jane Eyre, the most recent one. Have you seen it, is it good? I have seen clips on You tube and its seems good, i just hope it keeps to the story of the book.
  23. I have never heard of that one. I will have a look for that thanks!
  24. I agree about the dialogue, i was really sad to finish this book as i just wanted it to carry on and see what happens next. I also dont know what to read next as nothing else comes close, i may try Pride and Prejudice though has anyone read this one?
  25. I haven't read Wuthering Heights but i do want to give it a go. My only problem now is that i loved Jane Eyre so much i dont know what im going to read next as nothing else seems to compare if that makes sense! Im also sad i have finished reading it as i just want to know what happens next, Charlotte Bronte wrote the characters so well you feel like you really know them. I may give Pride and Prejudice a go but i keep re reading the romantic parts of Jane Eyre they are so lovely! Sad arn't i!
