  1. Well its nearly Christmas so i am readig the Chrstmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Im enjoying it so far as i love the story anyway. Has anyone else read it?
  2. Had a bit of a reading spree, the Other side of the Story was really good, the size of the book put me off but got into it so easily. Has anyone else read it? Also the Accident by Danielle Steele i thought was a brilliant book, so emotional i had tears in my eyes. Has anyone read this book? On Prince Caspian now so hope i enjoy it!
  3. Just finished reading Sail by James Patterson. It didnt have very good reviews but i actually enjoyed it, it wasnt one of his best but it was still enjoyable and a very quick read. It reminded me of a sinister version of the film Castaway. Its quite different to his other stories and the writing in parts is not so good but its a bit of escapism.
  4. Just finished reading Black Cat by Virginia Andrews. I found it a good read if a little depressing. It is sad how the main character is so accepting instead of chalenging the situation. I would recomend this book as it does grip you but dont expect a happy ever after.
  5. I have recently read Cradle and All, it didnt get very good reviews but i really liked it. Trouble was i read it to fast! I havent tried Harlan Coben or Hemming Mankell, do they write crime thrillers to?

  6. I found Celeste to be really good, its very similar to Flowers in the Attic with the controlling mother. It did take me a couple of chapters to get into but once the story developed it was hard to put down. Throughout the book i was wishing for Celeste to stand up to her mother. I have just started Black Cat which is the second in the series so looking forward to what happens next!
  7. i see that you are reading the memory keepers daughter, i have that on my TBR list and just wondered what it was like? Its true having high expectations, they never live up and you do feel that you should love them to when they are recommended
  8. I liked the friendship that developed between Lyra and Will. The language and the settings were good, and i liked the adventure, i think the problem was a friend of mine loved the books and because i didnt enjoy them as much as i thought i was a bit disappointed. It was a clever plot though.
  9. Hey Sarah. I have really loved some of James Herbert's novels (I've got 'em all) and have also got all of Dean Koontz' novels. If you like crime novels, have you tried Harlan Coben? Or Henning Mankell? These guys are great. Hope you're well.

  10. Just finished reading Celeste by Virginia Andrews. Does anyone else like her stories and writing style?
  11. Well i have just completed the Dark Materials trilogy and for some reason i found myself struggling to finish it. I dont feel the story held my interest but i was dertermined not to give up on it as i hate not finishing a book! What are other people's thoughts on this trilogy?
  12. Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman- After putting it off for ages i finally got around to reading The Northern Lights. It was a good read, not as good as i expected but enjoyable all the same. Im reading The Subtle Knife now and feel im enjoying that more.
  13. I have just read Chase, not sure about this story i found it pretty slow compared to his other books. What did everyone else think of this book and i heard there is a sequel but what is it called?
  14. Just finished reading The Chase by Dean Koontz. It was an interesting enough read but felt i wasn't gripped by it was slightly slow in places. It ends very quickly but is clever in places. I don't think it compares to the James Herbert Crime books i have read i think i prefer Dean Koontz super natural material. It wasn't a terrible book and glad i have read it and only 212 pages long i can't complain!
  15. I haven't got the Eyre Affair but will buy it if i see it. Will let you know if i read it and what i think! :)I think its good to read a variety of different books and i think James Pattersons books are great! Chick lit i love for an easy light read!
