  1. Im sick of hearing about this series of books/films but this year I intend to read them. I will go into the series with an open mind and make completely my own decision about them. Hopefully, my expectations will be shattered and they will be all they are made out to be.
  2. 1 Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen 2 The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien 3 Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte 4 Harry Potter series - JK Rowling 5 To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee 6 The Bible - 7 Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte 8 1984 - George Orwell 9 His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman 10 Great Expectations - Charles Dickens 11 Little Women - Louisa M Alcott 12 Tess of the D
  3. I started reading a little bit for the first time a day or two ago and although there was one or two that were terrible, there was a couple I read that I really enjoyed. Might even have a go myself one day.
  4. Haha! Of course.
  5. Yeah, that would be good but I don't think I would like to read from Voldemort's POV for some reason. I dunno. If it happened, I blatently would but I can't really imagine it. Also, Miss Whitlock, I'm loving the Boosh crimp in your sig!
  6. What a sentence! Moist is great though. Im going to read Reaper Man then both Going Postal and Making Money. Theres supposed to be another Moist book in the pipelines called Raising Taxes. Should be good if it happens
  7. Well, I've read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time and loved it, Life of Pi I started and really enjoyed but then ended up forgetting about it under a heap of coursework, Enduring Love was average but a good-ish read when I finally did it, and I absoloutly loved reading On The Road by Jack Kerouac. Thats just a few of the 'non-fantasy' books I've read but I am hoping being on this forum is going to broaden my reading-horizon as its something I love doing.

  8. I think I will have read all the Discworld books by the end of 2009 easily. Infact, I will make sure I have. They are so brilliant it really won't be hard at all. Theres not one that I've read so far and not enjoyed. Obviously some alot more than others but I loved reading them all.
  9. Ahh, Chrissy, that would make sense. That was one of the things I was like ....okay? about. There was no explanation whatsoever, as to who them people they just knocked out where or what happened to them. However, if it did have to fit on a postcard, I think maybe she should try and write like a book of short stories in chronological order from the points of view or people like young Snape, young Sirius, young James and Lilly and even a few for fun from the POV of people like Mr & Mrs Weasley. I'd definatly read that.
  10. Yeah, thats what I thought at first. Although I am more than happy to read anything Rowling writes, I just didn't get it at all.
  11. Has anyone else here read the prequel to the series? I read it earlier and really wasn't impressed all that much. I didn't see the point in her even releasing it. Any other opinions on it? Also, I realised that I had read the first paragraph before because it was on the wall of Waterstones and I didn't know what it was when I read it there.
  12. I think one thing I love about reading is the actual collection of books you get, and the (this sounds wierd but..) smell of the paper, the feeling of turning pages, seeing yourself getting further and further through the story. Its so much better. Its just so simple, it is stupidly pleasing. Also, I have already dropped a good few books in the bath so a $400 dollar book getting dunked probably wouldn't go down too well at all.
  13. Welcome to the forums Prepare to disappear into them via addiction.

    Hello

  15. Welcome Joe If you have any questions about the forum everyone is friendly and will help you instantly! Enjoy!
  16. Again thanks everyone Im really enjoying using the forums and pretty sure I'll be sticking around
  17. I know what you mean about his echo. Like hes speaking in a microphone with loads of reverb directly into your head. Death is great.
  18. Ah cool, hello Mona :)

I'm going to check that out in a bit. I take it fanfiction is just people writing their own stories but with all the characters from stuff like Harry Potter etc. Basically, furthering the series' themselves for others to enjoy.

  19. haha! When he expires, he should definatly be greeted by DEATH. I'd no longer be worried about dying if I knew I'd get to meet DEATH.
  20. Hi anisia, I was wondering what type of fanfiction you read and where you read it? I'd be interested in getting into it but don't know where to start!

    :)

    I'm Dan by the way!

  21. Nightwish! You've just made me notice that for the first time! Hahaha! Thats brilliant that even I was hoodwinked by it and I already knew what happened. Rowling is brilliant.
  22. Welcome Anubhuti! Everyone is really friendly here so you will get on fine. Gotta say, I haven't read any of the Twilight Saga yet and I'm abit sick of it already! Maybe I can be convinced to try it though
  23. Might have to check out the Tiffany Aching ones, I didn't even know about them. I'm looking forward to The Unseen Academicals as I absoloutly love the wizards. They so don't live up to their expectations of what wizards should be like its brilliant. I also have Making Money, but I didn't get round to finishing it for some reason. I will read it as I really liked Moist Von Lipwig but I think I will buy and finish Going Postal first.
  24. Although I am really enjoying this re-read, I am also abit bored of the 2nd and 3rd but I know it will all pick up if not in the fourth then books 5 to 7. I am particularly looking forward to Order of the Phoenix
  25. Yeah, its the Monster Book of Monsters that Hagrid sends Harry as a birthday present in Prisoner of Azkaban and it snaps at him straight away so he has to hold it shut with a belt I love that bit.
