  1. Ahh that's a shame it wasn't as good at the end. The whole series is on my TBR list. I currently have about 12 or 13 of his books but have only read 6 or 7. What's your favourite so far?
  2. thanks for all the welcomes everyone its funny you should mention that book as I bought it ages ago and never got round to reading it but when i went back to my mum and dads house last weekend i brought a load of my books back here with me and that is one of them on my 'TBR in the next month' list. are you enjoying it?
  3. you should definatly get them misswhitlock. i take it youve read them all? (its good to see your reading a bit of Discworld aswell btw im a massive discworld fan)
  4. Im English, born and brought up in Portsmouth. However, cant wait to move to London next year with the girl.
  5. Hi, my name is Dan and im a 19 year old student living in Portsmouth studying Music Technology, English Literature and Language, and Music Performance. I also studied Photography but as the work was too much to handle I dropped it. I live with my beautiful girlfriend, Scarlett and our gorgeous kitten Nala. I love reading, mainly fantasy books, and love getting hooked on a book so I cannot put it down. Erm, dont really know what else to say about myself but feel free to ask. Im sure you will learn more about me around the forums.
  6. i didnt go that far but me and my girlfriend were walking into town in the rain and on a wall there was a copy of The Boy In The Stripped Pyjamas which was in perfect condition except for the fact it was soaking wet. a night on the radiator sorted it out but now its twice as fat as a normal book. wierd thing about the whole story is that a few days before that i had been saying i wanted to read that book. but yeah
  7. we had to do this in art at school and i live in portsmouth. thought it was pretty pointless to be honest because we werent allowed to cover it in stickers or anything to do with hobbies, it had to be wrapping paper haha
  8. ive recently discovered i can read on the hour(ish) bus journey to college but 5 minutes in the car and i feel really sick. boats, i get dizzy reading on and the london tube makes me feel sick without trying to read haha. uni next year is going to be lovely. all the sickening journeys to and from uni on the tube.
  9. okay i will do. and thanks for the welcome :) i intend to spend a fair amount of time on the forums so ill post a hello and hopefully get to know a few people!

thanks and see you round! :)

  10. thats a pretty good idea never really thought of anything like that before. ive always bought a new copy if its so bad pages are falling out or covers are falling off!
  11. Has anyone read Firmin: Adventures of a Metropolitan Lowlife by SamSavage? I saw it in Waterstones today and from the blurb it looked pretty interesting. I want some first hand feedback if possible.
  12. well, yeah i guess. id be abit annoyed about the nailvarnish. when my girlfriend puts it on it sickens me because of the smell. also, the spine falling off isnt brilliant. but when i read one of my really old books, seeing that its well used reminds me of the first time i read it and how much i enjoyed it.
  13. being battered gives the books a bit of character though. i prefer to see a well read book than a perfect condition one...unless ive bought it from waterstones obviously.
  14. yeah, ive re-read individual books but never gone from 1 to 7 all the way through. although I am picking up on bits I missed and humour I didnt notice the first time through, I am pretty sick of Chamber of Secrets because its the one I've read through most times. However, I love them all and think Rowling is an incredible writer.
  15. im re-reading the series back to back now and im on Chamber of Secrets which is where Ginny drops her porridge and elbows the butter which did make me laugh. its been a while since ive read them and im getting so in to them and realising they are very funny in places which i didnt appreciate anywhere near as much the first time round.
  16. I cant remember the first one but the one that really sparked my passion for reading was when I was about 10 and we were read the first chapters of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. After school I got my mum to buy it for me and read it within a day or two and I dont think I've stopped reading since. I still love reading the Harry Potter series now. I do also recall spending many nights reading Goosebumps books too.
  17. im 19 and currently re-reading the whole harry potter series, i voted 'all the time'. i love loads of young peoples books. i dont think books should have age catagories tbh.
