  1. I have read this book 3 or 4 times and think its one of my all time favourites. I fell in love with the main character, felt alot for his dad and just thought the whole idea of how the novel was written was brilliant. I have reccomended it to a whole load of friends and family and lent them it and it was about half of them who completely loved and understood it and half who were abit like, "how is this a novel?" but yeah, I absoloutly love it.
  2. I have been using Mozilla for years now and I much prefer it to IE. I think it runs alot smoother, looks alot better and is easier to use. Guess it is down to personal opinion. I will be getting a Mac soon and am certainly not looking forward to using Safari. It is rubbish. Hope there is a mac version of Mozilla.
  3. Firstly, welcome to the forums Green. I think you missed the point of the Introductions folder. You are welcome to start a whole thread to yourself instead of just posting on someone elses. That way everyone can say hello and get to know you in your own area. Look forward to chatting to you round the forums.
  4. I get addicted to Apprentice, and I want the dopey bloke to win, purely because I would love to work with him! When they were saying about the tit-taps was brilliant!
  5. Im with you 6391637816538175% on that Mac! Ahhhh...dribbles.
  6. Surely the author of the Bible? Nah, seriously though, either J.K Rowling or Terry Pratchett..or both. That would be fine by me.
  7. I second what most people have said about the two not being mutually exclusive and if anything actually compliment each other. I hate seeing people on sites like Myspace and Facebook who brag about the fact they dont read in the 'Reading:..' section. Things like "Reading: Im not a loser.", make me think, 'well the fact that you have taken time out to fill in a section about what you read then just using it for that makes you a complete loser. In the time it took you to think up that witty *cough cough* comment, you could have picked up a book and actually used that brain cell sat in your head, that way it may possibly multiply.' </ end rant >
  8. Jacqueline Wilson had to pick 7 all time favourite childrens books...it was a perfect opportunity for self promotion! I'll have to think on this because there are loads I love from my childhood that I can't quite think of right now.
  9. It's an impressive collection but them book shelves look extremely dangerous! If ever you post saying your off to get a book from your shelves and aren't heard from for a few hours, we will all start worrying now! Ill post photos of my bookshelves when I have them all as some of my books are at my mum and dads house and I only have around 50 here at home.
  10. Welcome to the forums Martine. You'll get along fine with everyone here im sure!
  11. I haven't seen the films, nor have I read any of the books yet but every time I go to the book shop I always end up looking at the Lemony Snicket series. I am intriguied by the name, the blurb and the title of the series. I think eventually I will have a shot at reading them but until I am really pressed for something to read, after seeing some peoples reactions on here, I will leave them on the book store shelf.
  12. I am re-reading that book and read that bit last night. Completely agree with the last comment! Hahaha. I think Tonks is great. I love how clumsy she is.
  13. The Inheritance Cycle is actually one of my favourite series' of books I've read and I have read a fair few. I love the Harry Potter series and I think imo this is up there with it. Also, the Third book isn't the final book. There will be a fourth book out as Paolini said in a video on his website, halfway through writing Brisingr he realised that he wouldn't be able to tie up all the loose ends in the third and was turning the Trilogy into a Cycle. I loved Eldest, especially the parts where it switches between Eragons tale and Rorans tale. I am looking forward to the fourth book and, personally, I will be extremely happy if Paolini realises he is going to have to write another one making the total 5 books. The more Eragon adventures to read, the better I say!
  14. I much prefer Harry Potter but thats only because I haven't read Twilight but I'm sick of hearing people talk about it
  15. Thanks! So do you. :) Yeah, even though I'm 19 and they are for a young audience, I actually can't wait! I bought the first 3 in one go by chance because I was in my local second hand bookstore and I couldn't find anything I really wanted. I liked the look of them, ie: the covers are pretty cool, and they were only 4 quid for the 3 so I bought them and was hooked as soon as I started reading! The boggart in the Spooks house is great!

  16. haha, yeah. I have my TBR list but whenever I am near a book store of WHSmiths etc I always go in and end up seeing something else that I want to read. My actual want to read list is enormous!

I dunno if you did it but there is a thing on here which is a list of 100 books the bbc say most people have only read 6 of. I have only read 10 of them which im ashamed at so I intend to read loads of them aswell!.

    Far too many!

  17. Ill let you know what I think and we can have a big fat discussion about them!

It wont be for a while as I am slogging my way through the Potters atm. Doing pretty well with them so far though!

  18. Haha, I'll probably check it out at some point but I wont force myself to read it.

I'm looking forward to reading LOTR. The Hobbit is just going to be like a quick read before to warm me up for Middle Earth! :D

  19. I have only half read the Hobbit and book one of 6 LOTR books. I loved book 1 but ended up reading something else for college. What is the silmarillion about? the blurb of CoH sounds amazing.

  20. As a LOTR fan, have you read Children of Hurin? I plan to tackle that at some point this year once I have read LOTR and Hobbit. If you have read it can I have an opinion from a like-minded reader?! :D

  21. I am going to get the standard version also. I probably won't ever read it all. It's the collection that matters.
  22. There is definatly a story, like a 'moral of the story is' thing, in The Pardoners Tale by Chaucer where there are 3 brothers who are greedy and rob an old man. I studied it last year.
  23. Hello You'll get on great here. Everyone is lovely.
  24. Ah man, that sucks. Cheaper to buy the book! Turns out I didnt go to the library this afternoon. Maybe tomorrow..
