  1. Hello Lauren, I like Harry Potter too.
  2. Personally, I think it was a shame from Summit Entertainment's side to submit a low-budget, when the success of the film was almost sure. And I don't even understand where did they spent it!
  3. The Killers' song is a new one?!
  4. Introduction: A Streetcar Named Desire centers on a desolated woman named Blanche DuBois a fading relic of Old South, reared in aristocratic traditions. The play begins when Blanche arrives in New Orleans, after her life has fallen apart, to stay with her sister, Stella, and her crude, outspoken husband, Stanley Kowalski. Though scarred by her past, Blanche still tries to lead the life of an elegant lady and does her best, even lying when necessary, to keep up appearances. I finished it today and absolutely loved it. Williams handles the themes of illusion vs. reality, desire, human nature and behavior brilliantly. Its characters are real human beings with both their faults and good sides. And the story ultimately tragic. Has anyone else read it? If yes, what did you think of it?
  5. I think that Twilight works better on screen for the simple reason that the silly writing can't be translated into image. That's, I believe, why I at first liked Twilight and then changed my mind as soon as I found out how the book flows. Having finished New Moon yesterday, the best I can say is that it was OK, and this only because I generally have a weakness for romances. Apart from the bad writing, I couldn't but think that a monkey is much smarter than Bella herself.I mean, Furthermore, I thought that Jake was a selfish pig (sorry team Jacob). In addition, you can't write some 700 pages with so little action. I wonder how Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are going to be. I don't have any intention to listen to the whole Twilight, I'm only curious about the essential scenes. Enough said till now, sorry if I bored you with all this.
  6. I finished A Streetcar Named Desire. I'm not sure what am I going to start next, MAYBE 1984.
  7. Some 10 minutes left from New Moon.
  8. Well, not exactly phrases, but Henry James used the word "vulgar" a lot, at least in The Portrait Of A Lady. And the characters in Twilight say "sure" all the time. Among others...

  10. Granted, but you're sick in bed and can't enjoy it. I wish I could mess around all day.
  11. I would say so, at least a nomination. I went to watch it yesterday and I thought it was brilliant!
  12. I finally finished The Portrait Of A Lady and I'm in chapter 14? of New Moon. And now A Streetcar Named Desire is next.
  13. Granted, but they would leave in the worst parts of it. I wish that schools would begin later each day.
  14. It would be better actually. Granted, but you have to mop the whole house. I wish that schools could close again
  15. Granted, but you don't get much money. I wish I didn't have ancient Greek 6 hours a week
  16. Granted, but the sound and video quality suck. I wish people could stop freaking out about the flu.
  17. Roxi, I think your friend has absolutely no sense of economics.
  18. Selling out refers to abandoning your old views and beliefs in favor of, usually, money. Getting popular doesn't mean you're selling out. Now, about which song they could probably provide, I think that the three most strong candidates are I Belong To You, The Resistance and Undisclosed Desires.
  19. Well, I still have some 50 or more pages left from The Portrait Of A Lady, but I think I'll finish it in a couple of days. I'm also continuing the New Moon audiobook, from where I had left it some months ago. My opinion hasn't changed up to now, but I'll listen to it anyway.
  20. Granted, but then you wouldn't have enjoyed it, plus you would be still hungry. I wish I could change all my boring professors with good ones.
  21. You should definitely read Wuthering Heights! I'm also wondering what do you think of Pride & Prejudice...

  22. Unless there's something interested on TV, it doesn't bother me, I can read with it on. But I never listen to music and read a book in the same time, because my concentration focuses on one of the two. Either I will read or listen.
  23. Granted, but then you'd have a mountain of housework to do. I wish I was in university.
  24. Granted, but you're murdered by a count who wants your throne and wife. I wish I had met the love of my life.
  25. Granted, but they put fire on you, because they want to build villas. I wish I was a punk rocker back in the 70's
