  1. I began Brighton Rock, I read the first 50 pages. I forgot to mention yesterday something that disappointed me. I ordered from the bookshop I usually go to Secret Garden and told my dad to gather it. the next day, I opened the first page to see who translated it and instead there was a note: adaptation from the original. But we said not to take it back, because it only costed 5 euros, so I'll give it to some younger cousin of mine. Oh well, gotta find the original now...
  2. I finished A Room with a View last night. Now I'm going to start Brighton Rock by Graham Greene.
  3. I don't get your avatar, care to explain?

    hi

    Hello and welcome...
  7. I finished the first part of A Room with a View. It's really good till now.
  8. Welcome! To be honest, I only know Vladimir Nabokov , but I don't really read sci-fi.
  9. I finished it today. My feelings are complicated. I can't apply terms like "enjoyment" in this book, because it is by far the most pessimistic book I've ever read. And, I;m not sure how to explain this, but I'm not sure what exactly wanted to pass with this end. There's no hope at all after all? Was it an allegory for something else? Was it somewhat ironic-it? must be. You can say that the books contains many truths inside, thought I don't accept all Orwell's beliefs. I tend to be a more optimistic person. But I think that the term a brilliant read could be applied, because it was really well written and very thought-provoking.
  10. I finished 1984 and now I'm going to start A Room With A View by E.M.Forster.
  11. I don't know if I want to see New Moon. One the one hand, I bet it's going to be better than the book, so I'll probably enjoy it. On the other hand, I don't know if I should spend 6-7 euros in something Twilight-related. I really want to see it too, but it's coming out in March, so it's a little early.
  12. Today or tomorrow (probably tomorrow) I'll finish 1984.
  13. Harry Potter. Oh wait.......it's the only complete series I've read!
  14. An Education Bright Star Avatar Fish Tank A Single Man Fantastic Mr.Fox Princess and the Frog These mostly...
  15. Towards the end of 1984. That's a bit off-topic, but here it goes:why would someone want to read a rip-off of a classic, like the Jane Austen rip-offs? Why should they even been written? It's like: ok, I am not much of an aspiring writer, let's write something based on a much beloved book, it will probably do well in sales.
  16. Jane Eyre (1996 version). It was pretty good until the marriage proposal and then !BOOM! messed up-completely. I was left with my mouth open, wondering. How disappointing...
  17. Great choices! I watched The Outsiders last night. I hadn't seen it for almost 5 years, and I wanted to watch it again.
  18. Read 3 more chapters of 1984 in geometry class (it's becoming a habit )
  19. You could try East Of Eden by John Steinbeck.:eek2:
