    Hello!

    Hi livnlern to the forum
  2. Hi goodbyepenguin to the forum.
  3. Hi Kevin to the forum. Your English is great, I don't think anybody here will have a problem understanding you and I think it is very brave of you to join a forum in a strange language. I hope you enjoy it here and settle in well.
  4. From Dead To Worse ~by~ Charlaine Harris Synopsis Courtesy of Waterstones: The supernatural community in Bon Temps, Louisiana is reeling from two hard blows: the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina, and the manmade horror of the explosion at the vampire summit in the up-north city of Rhodes. Sookie Stackhouse is safe but dazed, and she's yearning for things to get back to normal. But that's just not happening. Too many vampires - some friends, some not - were killed or injured, and her were-tiger boyfriend Quinn is among the missing. It's clear that things are changing, whether the weres and vamps like it or not. And Sookie, Friend to the Pack, blood-bonded to the leader of the local vampire community, is caught up in those changes. She's about to find herself facing danger and death and, not for the first time, betrayal by someone she loves. And when the fur has finished flying and the cold blood has stopped flowing, Sookie's world will be forever altered ... My thoughts: There is a lot goes on in this book but I wouldn't describe it as action packed. We get to hear a lot more about more recent characters like Amelia and Quinn and meet a mysterious man from Sookie's past. A lot of the regulars are there of course but the storyline appears to be tying up a lot of loose ends by the second half of the book as if it was the end of the series. I'm very interested to see what the next book is about and how some of Sookie's new relationships pan out. 7/10 from me, just because it wasn't as action packed as some of the rest and I felt as if it wasn't really going anywhere at some points.
  5. All Together Dead ~by~ Charlaine Harris Synopsis Courtesy of Waterstones: Sookie's beginning to get used to being surrounded by all varieties of undead, changeling, shapeshifting and other supernatural beings - but even she has her limits. She'd really like to take a while to get over being betrayed by Bill, her long-time vampire lover, and get used to her new relationship with the sexy shapeshifter Quinn - but instead, she finds herself attending the long-planned vampire summit, the destination of choice for every undead power player around, as a sort-of human 'Geiger counter' for Sophie-Anne Leclerq, vampire queen of Louisiana. But the job is fraught with difficulties. Sophie-Anne's power base has been severely weakened by Hurricane Katrina, and she's about to be put on trial during the event for murdering her king. Sookie knows the queen is innocent, but she's hardly prepared for other shocking murders: it looks like there are some vamps who would like to finish what nature started. With secret alliances and backroom deals the order of the day - and night - Sookie must decide which side she'll stand with, and quickly, for her choice may mean the difference between survival and all-out catastrophe. My thoughts: There was a lot more action in this one from the word go. Sookie has to attend the Queen's trial and vampire summit but this isn't the only ordeal she as to endure. A lot of vampire politics and betrayals with a fast paced storyline filled with intrigue and deception. Another great Sookie read. 9/10
  6. Gosh it must have been. It talks about when Mr Catalaides went to Sookies house to tell her about Hadley and everything. You'd think it would have gotten more of a mention, especially when Sookie was down on her luck and could have done with the inheritance. I suppose it's obvious now that Ms Harris was saving it all up for Definately Dead!
  7. Hi Peyton to the forum
  8. Oh I see, thanks for that chesilbeach . Its been quite a while since I read the first book so that probably expains why I don't remember. I have a mind like a sieve
  9. Aw thanks
  10. Well let me get through the 9 book bookring I'm in the middle of and some of my TBR pile, then I may just take you up on your generous offer!
  11. Definately Dead ~by~ Charlaine Harris Synopsis Courtesy of Waterstones: Sookie doesn't have that many relations, so she hated to lose one - but of all the people to go, she didn't expect it to be her cousin Hadley, a consort of New Orleans' vampire queen - after all, Hadley was technically already dead. But she is gone, beyond recall, and she's left Sookie an inheritance - one that comes with a bit of a risk - not least because someone doesn't want Sookie digging too deep into Hadley's past - or her possessions. Sookie's life is once again on the line, and this time the suspects range from the rogue werewolves who have rejected Sookie as a friend of the pack to her first love, the vampire Bill. Sookie's got a lot to do if she's going to keep herself alive ... My thoughts: Sookie has to go to the Vampire Queen of Louisianna's residence to discuss why the Queen wants Sookie's use of telepathic powers, a very dangerous place to be seeing as the Queen's new husband is more of a business aquaintance than a husband, and the devoted followers of each are strictly sworn to their own royal allegience. All this leads to an awful lot of people not trusting each other and quite rightly so, but our unfortunate Sookie is of course slap bang in the middle of it all, not knowing exactly who is to blame for what. I really enjoyed this one, there were a lot of twists and turns in the storyline and a few relevations that were a complete shock to me. I did begin to think at one point however that I had missed a book, or read them in the wrong order as some references were made to Sookies cousin from an earlier time, although I can't for the life of me remember if she had been introduced to us before, I don't think so. We still see Sookies ongoing feelings for Eric and Bill, but then along comes Quinn and stirs up the whole dating plot! I'm very interested to see how this all pans out. 8/10 from me for this one, only because of the confusing references.

    Hey All

Hi Timmo You've stumbled into the right place
  16. I quite agree, I do need to work on my rep again  I'll be good :D We do seem to have a lot in common don't we? I do love a wee ciggie with a drink, now and again I don't think does any harm, mind you I need to be careful it doesn't start me off smoking again

How are you feeling today? Any better? :console:

  17. :haha: I love your line! Very funny, but I suppose you couldn't really use it :( ... it would make a great sig though ;).

Personally I'm all for a bit of humour myself and I also have a problem with having religion rammed down my throat, although I try to stay out of those arguments, I'd only end up offending some. Can't think of a username at the min thats offensive (I will keep an eye out for it) but I can picture an av with religious connatations (sp?) that irritates me.

Oh well, I guess you're right .. I'd better just play safe

Gonna go now and shower then read, you take care and get better real soon! Don't do anything I would ;)

  18. Me too! Funny that
  19. Not so much a title, more of a saying ... 'Jesus is coming... look busy!' but that along with my sig, 'lead me not into temptation, i can find it myself' may offend some here. What you think? Should i play safe and come up with something else? :o

  20. He has nice eyes, I'll give him that but ... ugh ... no sorry, give me Edward and I'll do the biting!!

I'm stuck looking for a new av, I'm feeling a bit on the mischievous side for my title too, but I may offend a few people so I'd better not

  21. yes, your profile page  but now that you mention it, your av creeps me out, he's the bad guy!! :icon_eek: I would definately not want to be his snack

Sorry I meant to say there are 9 Sookie books in total, I'm on number 7 and loving them. Just realised too that I don't get FX so won't be able to watch the series! :cry2:

I'm trawling for a new av, any idea?

  22. Oh no that is bad timing, I hope it clears up before then. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya ;) Shame your BF had to leave, I hope you're coping ok on your own, although the peace and quiet along with plenty of books sounds like heaven :D My OH isn't too well either, he was up vomiting all night (ergo so were the rest of us ) and he's been in bed most of the day, he's feeling a bit better now though so hopefully I'll get some sleep tonight!

Well may you run, pacman's on the lose! (Did I mention you need to re-decorate!)
