  1. Just as well, I don't think I'll be anywhere today! I'm not feeling well so I'm gonna stay right where I am .. on the sofa! Oh I hope you enjoy it Kylie, Harper is very different from Sookie but both characters are very good reading. The Harper Connelly series is a bit more dark and thrillerish (can you tell I made that word up? ) too and are a lot more emotion based, in my opinion
  2. thank you! You should indeed Stephanie They great and a bit different from the usual supernatural stuff. I shall be posting it on to Lilywhite either tomorrow or Wednesday, I'll try my best for it to be tomorrow! I did enjoy it, thank you again for another super bookring Weave I really hope Ms Harris finds it in her heart to let us all see a little bit of Harper's life after the dust has settled, I would love to see her along with more of her captivating cases!
  3. A Touch Of Dead ~by~ Charlaine Harris A collection of Sookie Stackhouse short stories. Synopsis Courtesy Of Waterstone's: Sookie Stackhouse enjoys her job as a cocktail waitress in Merlotte's, a small-town bar in small-town Bon Temps, deep in Louisiana. She's funny and pretty and, thanks to her grandmother, she's very well-mannered - but since not many people truly appreciate her ability to read their minds, the guys haven't exactly been beating down her door . . . And then along came Bill, tall, dark and handsome - and Sookie couldn't 'hear' a word he was thinking. He was exactly the type of guy she'd been waiting all her life for. Of course, Bill had a disability of his own: fussy about his food, not into suntans, bit of a night person: yep, Bill was a vampire. But at least now Sookie nows there *are* guys she can date who won't worry about her catching them thinking about other women . . . And that's going to make Sookie's life really interesting! My thoughts: This book contains several short stories following Sookie getting in and out of all sorts of trouble, yet still managing to appear warm hearted and sexy. The stories include some of our favourite characters such as the fairies, witches, vampires and werewolves, all of whom appear in The Sookie Stackhouse Vampire Mystery series with a note from the author explaining where abouts in the series each story relates. It's a light, entertaining read and each story can be read quickly and effortlessly, making the book easy to return to after putting it down. Not as exciting as the main series, but not a bad way to pass a few hours if your having some post Sookie blues! 7/10
  4. Grave Secret ~by~ Charlaine Harris Book 4 in the Harper Connelly Series Synposis Courtesy Of Waterstone's: When she was 15, Harper Connelly was struck by a bolt of lightning, which left her with a spiderweb of red over her body, headaches, and episodes of weakness. Sometimes her right hand shakes. And she can find dead people. It's taken a while, but at last Harper's pretty happy with her life: she's making a living, using her unique talent to help people, and she's got a lover - her stepbrother Tolliver. That creeps some people out, but though they grew up together, and got each other through the real bad times - their parents' drug-use, the abuse, the disappearance of Harper's elder sister Cameron - they're not blood relatives. Then Tolliver's dad arrives on the scene, seeking forgiveness for the sins of their youth, and the police get a tip-off that after all these years, Cameron's been spotted in a mall. With all this going on Harper realises life is getting a little complicated, but she doesn't expect those complications to include Tolliver getting shot, or watching a cop die taking a bullet for her. Harper can find dead people, but now it's clear someone wants her dead ... My thoughts: Harper Connelly can find dead people. She can also tell exactly how they died. It's an ability she developed after being struck by lightening when she was 15 and more recently she and her brother have been making an honest living from it, after helping each other get through some hard times. On her most recent booking, Harper makes a discovery which comes as a complete shock to the wealthy client, a shock which shakes her client's world to the core and, as it tumbles down around her, Harper must make sure she and Tolliver don't get caught in the fall out .. Grave Secret is full of twists and turns, hooking you in from the very beginning, while giving you subtle clues the whole way along, you just have to know when you've got one! Harper has developed into a much stronger person and her relationship with Tolliver has an even more solid bond which nothing appears to be able to break. I did find the relationship a bit strange at first in the previous book, but once you get past the stepbrother bit, you see how perfect they are for each other. I enjoyed how the story covered the reactions from people who were told of the new development in their arrangement, some good, some not so good as you would expect, but all in all I think the author handled it well. The story line was another intriguing case for Harper and, as is usual, she gets caught up in the repercussions of her revelation. This time though, I felt it dwelled more on the thriller aspect of the plot rather than the supernatural element, which I was a little bit disappointed in, I'd have liked to have seen more of her talent. The ending also appeared to be a bit rushed to me and all the lose ends seemed to come together a bit too neatly. Having said that, I still really enjoyed the book and began to get a bit aprehensive when I started getting the feeling that this may be the last in the series, it felt like the author was wrapping things up rather too well. I hope not, I would definately love to see more of Harper Connelly! 8/10
  5. Bram Stoker's Dracula on five, gotta love Gary Oldman in it
  6. Hi there! Welcome to the forum
  7. Hey frankie

Thanks for popping in, I'm doing ok. I'm starting to get over xmas, trying to get back into a routine & get this, reading more! Things slowly picking up a bit & kids are back to school, so slowly getting back to normal.

Sounds like you had a lovely w/end! How are you enjoying the Wii? Kookie has one but I've never tried it, I can hurt myself getting out of bed! I know my limits  But the head massager sounds like heaven, I love getting my head massaged or even someone doing my hair.. which, needs cut & I was thinking of going blonde for a change, don't know, I've been blonde before but usually in the summer when I have a better colour

Piper's limited to the kitchen, she's casting badly & hairs are a prob, they're just falling off her no matter how much we brush her, we even vacuum her (which she's loves!) but it usually takes ages for her new coat to come through, it's a nightmare! Joys of having a pet eh?

Oh yes the H is silent in my name ;)
