  1. I always fancied journalism or working on a magazine when I was at school but also didn't have the confidence to do it - I also wrote a lot of poetry and fiction when I was at junior and secondary school.
  2. Lol! We had an excellent English teacher (very much old school type) who always said that any reading no matter what was valuable . . . so by that criteria . . . you could argue . . . Did you, like me, Michelle, look forward to it coming out every Wednesday - I used to love picking up a copy on the way to school.
  3. Well if we're including reading matter not included on the curriculum then it's Jackie, Smash Hits and various music papers for me - read at the back in Maths. Paid the price and failed my O level.
  4. I've read it and totally recommend it.
  5. It's nice on my TBR list - just got to get through my current book which is a good read but slow progress (have to book some reading time tomorrow).
  6. That was the only one that I considered - still thinking about it.
  7. Which one did you request? They didn't really tempt me much either.
  8. Thanks O's - the one I liked had a real bitter plain choc flavour/lingering after taste - gorgeous, so I'll be trying your suggestions. Cheers!
  9. Can anyone recommend a wine that has a chocolatey flavour - there was one I used to drink but I can't remember what it was - I know that some Shiraz does but I'm not sure which one.
  10. I read it at school and loved being whisked from a gloomy classroom in Manchester to sunny Corfu.
  11. There's another book by the same writer currently available in Tescos - looks like a good read - I think it's called The Forgotten Garden but I'd have to check on that.
  12. Since I was a child I fancied working in a library but ended up doing admin/secretarial work. However I still had my dream of library work and when I reached my 40's circumstances were right for me to make that change and so here I am and I'm happy.
  13. Thanks -it's on the TBR pile.
  14. Yes aren't they perfect for the role - and wasn't it nice when it made Kat smile.
  15. They've got the best two for the 'happy' llama though - aren't they wonderful!
  16. Ooo there's nothing nicer! I've my own supply of rocket at the moment - so nice to know it's not been tampered with by the supermarkets.
  17. That's very kind Gyre - thank you, however I'll wait, as I have a number of books out on loan at the moment (including the book of the month Boy In the Striped Pyjamas) and need to read them first - by which time No Time For Goodbye will have arrived. Thank again. It's good to hear good reports about it.
  18. I'll wait for it to come into the library and give it a try then - looking forward to it, it sounds a good read.
  19. Wow that was quick - glad it arrived ok. Hmm that's the second time today I've been called 'naughty' - first instance was one of my ladies that I visit - lol.

  20. The library service (in our county) provides sets of books for local reading groups plus provides ideas for discussions. It's certainly worth contacting your library or checking out their website to see what support they can give you.
  21. That's me as well - I think working with the public has helped but really deep down I'm a quiet person.
  22. At the moment Jen seems to be the root of all evil. I'm disappointed Luke has gone so nasty he'd been really amusing to watch up til now.
