  1. My biggest concern here is exactly how we decide what is acceptable content, and how to deal with people who disagree with our decision and start getting upset? It's also another job for the mods to take on (I've already had mods leaving because they're too busy with 'real life' to help out enough) plus would it take away from our review blog?
  2. Tom, I've seen... The Ark in Space Genesis of the Daleks Pyramids of Mars The Face of Evil The Invisible Enemy The Keeper of Traken Logopolis
  3. Did they keep the Adric thing a secret? I actually didn't mind Adric, he's a know-it-all, but not arrogant. I seem to have opposing views to many, as from what i've seen so far, I don't really like Tom Baker that much.
  4. David, over the years I've tried to contact many authors, and on the whole, the more well known ones tend not to respond, or at least say they're too busy. That's why I was asking what interest there is in the lesser known authors. However, this was a year ago, and I would find it hard at this point to do all the running around, and conducting the interviews. Thanks for responding though.
  5. OMG - I watched that one over the past 2 nights - he's actually quite good as the character, but it's SO funny to watch, especially his costumes!
  6. I watched Earthshock the other day, and forgot you had it on your list. It wasn't the most enjoyable, but Tegan is good, and the ending is also good. As for Pertwee, that's a shame if you can't watch, coz he's my 2nd favourite (classic) Doctor so far.
  7. After that little rush, I'm finding it really hard to settle into reading at the moment, for various reasons. Which wouldn't be a problem, except for the review books.
  8. Hi, we have a general thread to chat about our daily book activity: http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/11547-your-book-activity-may-2013/ Alternatively, you can set up your own reading log here: http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/community/index.php?/forum/16-reading-lists-blogs/
  9. Hayley, that's how I feel - I have tried to appreciate my kindle and get used to it, but it soon wears off. I can't break my addiction to 'normal' books.
  10. Tom Baker - I rather enjoyed The Ark in Space, but some reason I wasn't keen on Pyramids of Mars, despite being told it's a favourite of many. I'm now on the trilogy I've been looking forward to for some reason. The Keeper of Traken was pretty good, but I'm loving Logopolis - I love the confusion of the different Tardis's, the humour of landing on a boat instead of in the Thames, the strange figure in white, the mention of the cloister bell, chameleon arc etc

Oh, that's a horrible feeling, Michelle, hope it lifts soon .x

  12. That is certainly the popular theory, and it did seem to fit in with what both he and Matt said. Some are saying that the problem with that is that both the 9th and 10th speak of what they did in the time war - they are not proud of their actions, but they do admit them. So why is it now described as their big secret? I think my interpretation is that they admit their actions, but they try to keep that particular incarnation a secret as they're also ashamed of it.. maybe *that* incarnation felt differently about the genocide than the rest do? It should certainly keep the fans discussing and debating until November! lol
  13. So, what did everyone think of the finale? Personally, I loved it - there are a few things I wasn't sure of, but on the whole, it kept me glued to my screen, and I enjoyed the story. As a River fan, the highlight for me was her last moments with the Doctor, realising that despite her doubts, he's absolutely in love with her. I've been reading some spoiler sections of GB, so I was already expecting John Hurt to pop up, and there's a popular theory as to how he fits in. So before I say anything, I'd be interested to know what people on here think?
  14. Ok, that makes sense! TofC will be watched at some point. I'm not sure if Kinda is on my list, but it's mentioned before, so I shall go look it up.
  15. I usually watch The Apprentice, but haven't bothered this time - seems like I might have made a good decision.
  16. Looking forward to your thought on Ender's Game. I found bits to criticise whilst reading (listening in my case) but looking back, I feel as If I've read something really important.
  17. PS Raven - check post number 37 as well.
  18. I actually liked The Mind Robber, it was The Krotons didn't really like. Tomb of the Cybermen is still on my list, and I will come back to it at some point - I shall probably watch a few different Cybermen stories together. Do you mean I have no shame by mentioning GB? Do you post on there - have you already spoken to me in an alternative identity?
  19. I've kept my Gallifrey Base thread updated, and have gotten some interesting feedback and extra information. My little mini reviews may contain spoilers if you don't want to know anything before watching. If you're interested, and want to read the thread, it's here: http://gallifreybase.com/forum/showthread.php?t=167503 As a summary, I have surprised myself by really liking the 3rd Doctor, and at this point would happily watch all of his episodes. I've seen 2 of the 2nd Doctors, The Mind Robber was set in 'the land of fiction', was rather surreal and I liked that one. The Krotons I wasn't so keen on. I'm leaving that era for now. Amy and I are watching The Ark in Space, and I've watched one of the 4th Doctor's Dalek episodes - I think I'd be quite happy to see some more. All in all, I'm really enjoying this experience, and am glad I finally got around to it. (I just need a lot more time, and money!!)
  20. I'm just watching The Ark in Space, and I'm very keen to get to The Keeper of Traken/Logopolis/Castrovalva, and then Earthshock. Is there anything else you think I should see before Earthshock?
  21. I'm going to remove your post with your email, as you are likely to get lots of spam once the search engines pick it up.
  22. If I recall, Speaker for the Dead was pretty good, but I gave up on Xenocide (I do that alot! lol) Ender's Shadow was also good.
  23. I'm listening to Wool at the moment, and I agree so far. Part 1 was really good, and to my mind, made a good short story. Since then, it's been rather slow, and I'm close to giving up.
  24. I suppose they were stored somewhere, but unable to restart until the cyberplanner got restarted?
