    I quite enjoyed this one, but it certainly has lots of critics! Most people do seem to really like it (take a look at our thread for example) I would say that a fantasy reader would.

    I'm not sure what the point of your thread is - if you wish to discuss the series of books, or ask if the first is worth reading etc, it would help if you use the author as the thread title, and we can then move it to the correct section. However, if you wish to just chat about the books you have, wish to get etc, I would suggest that we move this to the 'Reading Lists / Blogs' section.

    I'm not aware of anyone who was affected. Beth and I tried, but no luck. I get the feeling it was all to do with suggestions placed throughout the show, then an attempt at slight hypnosis just before the film. I also saw the images.

    Yesterday I received The Gates by John Connelly from Amazon Vine - this time he's writing for teens, and the first few chapters are excellent. There's a great humour in there, which reminds me of Pratchett, Jonathan Stroud etc, and I can't wait to see where he's going to take the story.

    I guess the wider question here is whether films should reflect the book as much as possible, or whether they are allowed to change lots of things? Do you think that if you hadn't read the book, you would have enjoyed it.. is it the changes which are annoying, or the film itself?

    Of course it could be that it really was something like a split screen, and the whole programme was just misdirection.

    I loved the way he spent the show explaining his main explanation, then suddenly went onto the 2nd in the last few minutes.
