  1. and me! It certainly was good, and I may now need to check out Good Omens.
  2. This is fast becoming my favourite thread ever!
  3. Chrissy, that's given me the best laugh of the day. However, I'm wondering.. the ones facing downwards.. where have they tucked it?
  4. As you are charging money for tickets, your posts are considered as advertising, and are therefore not allowed.

  5. Hi Craig - no worries, it's a big forum. :eek2: However, please make sure you flick through the Announcements section, especially the rules and guidelines; and if you get stuck, there's always the FAQ. With that out of the way, what authors/genres do you like to read?
  6. Apparently this is just until Jan, after that, it'll go back to
  7. The timing issue does make it even worse - we actually had to teach Beth how to speed up, because she's more of a careful worker.
  8. Well, we've just been through the 11+, and it is pretty difficult. They've changed the scedule, so it's taken earlier in the year, so many are only 10. Add to that the fact that there are some questions within the maths paper that the schools don't cover until after the exam is taken, and you can see what a struggle it can be! In fact, my friend's husband was looking at Beth's practice papers, and he found them quite tough.. and he has a Masters in Maths from Oxford!
  9. Linda, isn't that what I wrote?! Reading guides would be very helpful though, I'm sure. :eek2:
  10. I just know that I'm going to be sobbing.. then booing at the screen when the new one appears!
  11. Maybe take a look at Emotional Geology or A Lifetime Burning by Linda Gillard? That latter should raise a good discussion! Crazy As Chocolate by Elisabeth Hyde would also be a good comparison to Notes from an Exhibition.
  12. Dr Who 2010 has a new logo! My initial opinion is good.. I think it fits a younger Doctor.
  13. Is that a re-release of the existing book, or a new one? I've read about the existing book, and most people have said that there are already difference, so they doubt the cause will be the same.
  14. Hmm.. I must be typing in invisible ink! I've edited your title once again, and have moved this thread to the relevant place. I've also, once again, removed your bolding, as per the posting guidelines - please take the time to read them.
  15. There's one more person waiting after you. It had been a while, so I was just trying to find out where it was up to.

  16. I've merged these two threads, and slightly edited the original title.
  17. I've almost finished an early copy of Tell Tale by Sam Hayes. For those of you who enjoyed Blood Ties, you'll enjoy this one too.
  18. Thank you for being curteous enough to answer my query! I have altered the title of the thread, and I've also removed the bolding from your posts, as per the posting guidelines.
  19. Do you wish to discuss these books, because if so I can edit the thread title, to help future readers . Alternatively, you may wish to start your own reading log?
  20. Sorry Chrissy, I missed this - I have tried to get her interested in reviews, but it never quite happens.. I do know that she finished it, and really liked it - and she's now moved on the 'Charlie Bone' series. It's nice to see her reading decent sized books, instead of the likes of Horrid Henry! As for me.. (trying not to forget anything).. I read A Note From An Old Acquaintance, which was for a blog tour.. it was enjoyable enough, but not one of those 'stand out books'. Next came Of Bees and Mist - a rather unusual book! Then The Gates, which I thought was brilliant! Audio-wise, I finished Salem's Lot, and also listened to Too Close To Home by Linwood Barclay - I did like it, but the ending seemed somewhat of an anticlimax, and I preferred his first book. Moving on, I've just started a proof copy of Tell Tale by Sam Hayes, which I'm very excited about; plus there was a copy of The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny in the parcel, which also looks very good!
  21. Her books are all separate Laura.
  22. I know that you intend this to be 'Which crime book are you reading now?', but there's far too much overlap with the general 'Reading Activity' thread.
  23. I reviewed The Many Hands here, and that one was a little more scary.
  24. Fantastic - thank you!
