  1. I started it last night, and it certainly has the feel of 'old King' so far.
  2. I would suggest taking a look at this thread.
  3. Not another list!? Who makes these decisions?
  4. As we've now served all usefulness I shall soon delete the thread.
  5. Could you tell us a little more please, as this will help me place this in the correct section, as well as encouraging discussion. ETA: I've moved the thread to 'Fiction', until I find out a little more.
  6. Could you please tell us a little more.. about both the author, and her book(s)? This will help me place the thread in the correct section, as well as encourage further discussion. ETA: I'm assuming this should be in Women's fiction, please correct me if I'm wrong.
  7. As this is your first and only post, and the book is being sold and promoted online, can I please check whether or not you're involved in any way?
  8. I don't like it when couriers are used. There is one in particular who will only attempt delivery once, then you have to go to the depot - which is down in Maidstone! I simply can't be in all day long, so the chances are that I would miss them!
  9. Aww - just think - your book is now unique!
  10. Thank you - he's been I'll for a while, but this still wasn't expected.

  11. That'll teach me to read your posts correctly!
  12. Oops - I didn't realise you'd already discovered him. I may get a review copy of his new book, so hopefully I'll be able to let you all know what it's like. How about Banquet For The Damned?
  13. I'm going to recommend Bill Hussey - there's a thread here.
  14. I'd rather not see this thread taken up with people just expressing interest. Can I suggest that those of you already involved go ahead, and people will join in if interested.
  15. I'm not quite sure what you mean by that? Surely these threads are for discussion.. whilst some may wish to make only a few comments, I'm sure many others enjoy reading the more in-depth posts too. No?
  16. I agree Linda - my review for that one is here.
  17. 'Hate' is a strong word for a book! If you feel that strongly, why continue? I'm listening to it as an audiobook at the moment, and whilst I like the actual writing, I'm struggling a bit with the characters - I really don't like Elspeth, or the twins!
  18. The free postage bit may not work though, as some sites will only deliver to the cardholders (if paying by credit card) address. Has anyone used any of the books sites to send to a different address?
  19. Please note that when the mod team started discussing this, we did come up with a few issues which would need considering. Remember there are a range of people, in a range of countries, situations etc.. the details need to be carefully thought out, and someone needs to take the responsibility of organising. I would also have to say that if this is organised by members, then I can't be held responsible for books which don't turn up, members who disappear etc.
  20. Hi Andrea. :) I haven't been able to spend much time of the forum at all, let alone the 'what's up' thread! Work has calmed down a little, but they're still putting more and more work on me, with no thanks or pay rise!

Thanks for the congrats - I'm very proud of her, and now hoping that we get in the local Grammar, and that she likes it. :D

    How is everything with you??

  21. Hi - yes, I'm doing better - it was so nice to sleep in a bit this morning! I have a week off now, and it couldn't have come at a better time!

Beth had to do Verbal Reasoning and Non Verbal Reasoning. The former looks at all sorts of word patterns, relationships etc, and she got top marks in it. I've seen such an improvement in that sort of area.. she's reading more, writing stories etc, and really enjoying it. :)

Verbal reasoning is the sort of thing you see in IQ tests, and is all about working out patterns and sequences. I find them quite hard, but she did well.

Anyway, it's been a hectic week, but I think we now know what order we're putting the schools in. It's a scary thought though, sending my 'baby' to the big secondary school! lol

As for yourself, you need to get yourself back to a good sleep pattern young lady!;)

  22. Hi! Thanks for popping by! :D Yes, the migraine today was not good.. and bad timing too. My triptan didn't work, so I spent a couple of hours feeling very rough, and then the rest of the day still not that great!

As for you, did you feel as if you needed a cry? I always look and feel bad after crying too.. so attractive! lol

I am very proud of Beth. We found out the actual scores yesterday, and although she was weak at Maths, the other two subjects were really good scores. I wasn't at all keen on her teacher last year, and I'm sure her maths fell behind a bit because of that. She's apparently making rapid progress this year, so that's good.

Other than that, work continues to be a pain, but a bit less than it was. It goes in waves there, so it won't be long before I'm screaming again!:lol:

I hope all is well with you - are you sleeping better?

  23. Wow - are you always that rude to people?! Please DO stay away! Added: due to this rudeness, plus an unpleasant email to myself, this person has been banned.
  24. Happy Birthday youngster! :tong:

  25. Thank you - I'm so pleased for her that her extra work paid off. :D
