  1. I have still to read this, I think I'll try and read it by the end of the year. I have seen seen the film and liked it and there have been a couple of times where I have seen the film first and then not enjoyed the book. Most notably One Day and The Devil Wears Prada. I find books that don't seem to progress in any way hard to get into. Still we shall see.
  2. Oh, well to be honest it was an American date for release, so you are probably correct. That's a shame, still I know what to ask for my birthday now hehe. I might have to look that one up too!
  3. Me too I remember when I had just started school one of the books I always went for from the little library was Meg & Mog! I have such fond memories of them.
  4. Sophie has a new book out ... I don't know when I just saw it on Facebook! Surprise Me So happy!
  5. I find that when I have a reading slump, I dislike everything to do with books. Like you say, it depends on the person, and what the slump means to them. Do you find re-reading books you've enjoyed in the past helps a lot?
  6. "Divas" sounds like a very hectic day. Hope you did manage to get some deserved me time. Have a great time! You never know, maybe you will find something to bring home this time. Hope everyone else is having a good week so far.
  7. I have been reading reviews on The Hate U Give I can't get on with books like that, when other people cause grief for a difference of opinion. Sorry to to hear the reading slump creeping back, Athena Hopefully, it won't win
  8. There are a few books I would love to see made into films, will have to think about who would be good to play the roles though... although I am thinking Jenny Colgan's Little Beach Street Bakery, the character Polly could be played by Joanna Page, and Sophie Kinsella's Twenties Girl, Sadie could be played by Maisie Williams. I think she could suit a 1920s flapper girl, with Emilia Clarke or Emma Watson as Lara. Tommy and Tuppence by Agatha Christie. I had always wanted to read Christie, but I hadn't heard of this series. I have read the first book, but they do seem hard to find. I haven't read it yet, but i voifht The Essex Serpent because of a couple of reviews on here and I kept seeing it, so I read the sypnopsis and was intrigued. I am sure they'll be plenty more where they came from...
  9. My reading has slowed down a little too much for my liking, so trying to read a little bit everyday on my breaks at work, and on the journey to and from.
  10. Haha! I was going to mention this. The ones at Sainsbury's at Wakefield does this ALL the time. Does my nut in. There is a train that arrives at my station at 814 and time after time it's cancelled. Why? Because there is not enough carragies. The next one after that is 846. Making me get to work just at the last minute, and not be able to work up any flexi. The other day however it arrived with the two carriages and it was packed. I feel it's nice knowing I pay my fare and still they can't provide trains. I remember once the 846 turned up a little early, but actually left at about 844. They are supposed to close the doors up to 30 seconds before departure but that was a joke! The guy selling tickets even said he had no right to do that. To praise the trains, I was walking down the ramp with the train there I tried to run abit but I hate doing that because you usually end up missing it anyway. So the conductor closed the doors but he left one open for me. Thought Thank you, kind sir! He also said "thanks for not trying to jump on when the doors where closing." Which I guess some would do. That sounds awful, Athena, about the train tickets. I could almost feel my heart in my throat just reading it.
  11. Sorry to hear about her passing, Madeleine. Hope you are okay.
