Books do furnish a room Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Of the options given it would be the Shire. If I could broaden it then it would be The Culture (Iain M. Banks) because you live a long time, there is a huge amount to do, a universe to see and you can change sex at will and see things from another perspective!! Quote
Heffalumpi Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Harry Potter for me too, the idea of all that magic going on would be too good to miss Quote
Tucker Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 I would go with Harry Potter. I would want to work at Ollivander's Wand Shoppe. Quote
ladymacbeth Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Harry Potter but only post Voldemort and definitely not as a muggle! What would be the fun of that. Quote
nursenblack Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 The world of Harry Potter of course! I want to go to Hogwarts school and fly on a broom! Quote
BigWords Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 Star Wars, as nothing written by E.E. 'Doc' Smith is on the list and that is the closest. Quote
Guest Eliza1 Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 It would be Harry Potter for me What is Enders? Eastenders? Quote
Katrina1968 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I'm still partial to Hogwarts (or maybe the Weasly home in the Burrow) but my first choice is the Shire and Rivendale in Middle Earth oh to be there now.... Quote
Univerze Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 The world of Dan Simmon's Hyperion Cantos.. step through a farcaster portal and be on another world lightyears away within a second.. my thing really.. Quote
Christie Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Oh god I love most of these books but I think there is nothing more exciting than going to Hogwarts! Quote
Toneeh Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Harry Potter without a doubt. I want a puffskein. Quote
ToniLianne Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Harry Potter. I always wished my school was more like Hogwarts Quote
vodkafan Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I think I already answered this near the beginning of the thread. However after reading Perdido Street Station I know where I would NOT want to live: New Crobuzon is a very dangerous place!! Quote
Weave Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I would live in Haruki Murakami's world, there is enough weirdness and cats to keep me happy Quote
Lefty_UK Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I am town between TLOTR and Narnia. Rivendell seems like an absolutely beautiful place and of course Hobbiton is very cool but I love the idea of walking through a wardrobe into a land of Fauns and talking Lions Quote
frankie Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I think this is an easy question in a way: I'd definitely go for the Thursday Next world, because that way I'd get to be close to books and could visit the worlds in different books Quote
Univerze Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I'm editing my post to a world not mentioned in your choices. Terre D'Ange. Yes please. Kushiel's Dart, by Jacqueline Carey. Terre D'Ange Quote
Hyzenthlay Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Harry Potter! I can't think of anything that appeals more to my childlike daydreams. If not Harry Potter, then something extremely fantasy-like. Like the Raymond E. Feist universe. Quote
Lisa Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Harry Potter. There's so no other choice for me!!! Quote
Ben Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Obviously for many Harry Potter is the obvious choice and I certainly wouldn't say no; every school should be like Hogwarts, and it would be infinitely cooler if we could do spells, have wands, fly on brooms, play Quidditch. Nevertheless, I think I'd have to go with The Lord of The Rings. Despite the fact many places throughout give the impression of danger and appear as frightful locations, I would love to visit Legolas' land; the land of the elves, and of course the hobbits and dwarfs as well. Quote
Vogin Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I'm an extreme dreamer, so I have already thought of this a lot - hence comes my ordered list: LOTR - I consider it the most, I don't know, "noble" fantasy land Dune - Fremen are awesome Alagaësia - a marvelous mix of "religious" Dwarves and "scientific" Elves Midkemia - a wandering magician would be perfect Quote
catwoman Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I know that a lot of people have put this; but I also would love to live in the Shire. It just sounds such a plesant place to live. so peaceful yet full of fun. Quote
Tiger Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Harry Potter's world, definitely Going to Hogwarts would be amazing. Quote
elliebellie Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Okay if we're choosing our own worlds I want to be an Umpah Lumpah in Willie Wonka's chocolate factory sounds good to me!! Quote
